Quite a few players from and at schools in the INW coverage area were honored this season, along with a few coaches. Among the most prestigiously recognized this year were Oliver Gore of Rocky Mountain College, Micaela Castain of Washington State, Sofia Huerta (Boise, ID) of Santa Clara, Nick Hamer (Spokane, WA) of Gonzaga and Washington State head coach Keidane McAlpine.
Rocky Mountain's star striker was named the NAIA Player of the Year by the NSCAA, picking up along the way NAIA First Team All-America and Regional (Independent) First Team honors as well as Frontier Conference Player of the Year recognition. His coach, Richard Duffy, was recognized as the Conference's top coach in men's and women's soccer.
At Washington State, midfielder Micaela Castain left quite an impression as the Cougars posted one of their best season's in program history. She was honored as the Conference's Player of the Year and went on to receive NSCAA Second Team All-American and Regional (Pacific) First Team awards. Coach McAlpine was similarly recognized, receiving the PAC-12 Coach of the Year and NSCAA Regional (Pacific) Coach of the Year awards.
In the West Coast Conference, Gonzaga's Nick Hamer was named the Conference Player of the Year while teammate Josh Phillips picked up the Conference's Defender of the Year award. In addition to obviously being All-Conference selections, the pair were also among the NSCAA Regional (Far West) Third Team selections. At Santa Clara, Boise's Sofia Huerta was a WCC First Team Selection and was named to the NSCAA All-American Third Team.
