HS Update: Deer Park Edges Freeman in NEA Showdown


In a marquee matchup of unbeaten sides, Freeman and Deer Park were locked up in a tight, slow-paced contest Thursday on the thick wet pitch up north that saw the host Lady Stags prevail 1-0 to take command of the NEA.

Meanwhile, in the GNL Thursday was a day of comeback performances as West Valley rallied from two down to win in overtime and Clarkston bounced back from allowing the opener at home.

Friday's GSL contests saw a handful of close contests as Mead snatched a shootout victory against University, North Central topped Lewis & Clark in overtime and Mt Spokane nabbed a narrow 1-0 win against Shadle on a late goal.

NWAC East Update 09.30.19: North Idaho Women Blank Columbia Basin


In the marquee result of the weekend, North Idaho became the first side to shutout Columbia Basin in 12 games this season, battling to a scoreless draw against the Hawks.

In other women's action Wenatchee Valley and Blue Mountain played to a draw, giving both their first points of the season, but the Knights fell the next day at Treasure Valley, which earned their first win to move off the bottom.

Meanwhile, the WVC men used wins over BMCC and TVCC to catapult to the top, a point ahead of the idle Sasquatch.

NWAC East Update 09.26.19: Split Doubleheaders at NIC, Spokane


A pair of doubleheaders 36 miles apart Wednesday evening saw North Idaho, Walla Walla, Columbia Basin and Spokane all finish with split results on the night. The results on the night left the Spokane men as the lone unbeaten as they handed the Hawks their first defeat while Walla Walla fell at NIC in their first match that didnt end tied. On the women's side Walla Walla and Columbia Basin maintained their unbeaten records with distinctly different matches.

HS Update: Peroff Hat-Trick Guides Ferris Past CV


After missing the postseason a year ago, the Ferris Saxons made a statement on the opening day of Greater Spokane League play Wednesday with a 3-2 victory over defending champion Central Valley.

INWsn College Best XI - Week 5: Alger and Levine Lead WSU, NNU to Wins

A trip to island paradise landed a pair of victories for Washington State with defender Brianna Alger leading the way and Northwest Nazarene rolled to a pair of 2-0 victories in California off the boot of Jake Levine, who played a role in all four strikes.

College Notebook 9.25.19: League Play Opens Up

Conference action kicked off last week in the Northwest Conference and Cascade Collegiate Conference. It was a tough week away from home for Whitman and Whitworth in the NWC, but Providence, Rocky Mountain and Carroll swept their CCC men's openers while Rocky Mountain was the lone side to win both on the women's.

The GNAC and many of the Division I programs begin conference play this weekend, including the Big Sky and Pac-12.

NWAC East Update 09.23.19: Walla Walla Women Show Their Might


The Walla Walla women came into East play on a dominant run and are now four games into the campaign and have not allowed a goal, blanking Wenatchee Valley and a Yakima Valley side that was coming off a fantastic pair of road wins.

On the men's side Spokane and Columbia Basin head into a Wednesday night showdown as the unbeaten leaders in the East, which saw four of six matches last week finish in a stalemate. The Walla Walla men, like the ladies, are unbeaten thus far, but only have draws on their ledger after three games.

EOU Women's Soccer: Climbing A Mountain From Nowhere


Located in the valley of the Blue Mountains, the Eastern Oregon women's soccer program faces arguably some of the toughest obstacles in finding success in La Grande. The small-town program, though, has broken through not only in the Cascade Conference, but nationally as it just completed an unbeaten run against four consecutive ranked opponents as it prepared for conference play that kicks off Friday at Northwest Christian.

INWsn College Best XI - Weeks 3 & 4: Turnbow, Myers, Hauser and Sherwood Lead Honors

Quite a few outstanding scoring outbursts highlighted the list of honorees this week, particularly amongst the women's performances as Kelsey Turnbow (Spokane, WA) and Rikki Myers (Northwest Nazarene) earned Player of the Week honors. On the men's side consistent goal creation landed Nolan Sherwood the honor and a surprising shutout of powerhouse Peninsula earned Colin Hauser (Boise, ID) the nod.

College Notebook 9.17.19: Non-League Update


The league seasons are fast approaching. Kicking off this week are the Cascade Collegiate Conference (NAIA) and Northwest Conference (DIII) on Friday and Saturday, respectively.  Providence, Rocky Mountain, Carroll and Walla Walla will be at home while Eastern Oregon travels in CCC action. Whitworth and Whitman are both on the road as they open against the powerhouses Puget Sound and Pacific Lutheran over the weekend.

NWAC East Update 09.14.19: Yakima Valley Downs NIC


While Columbia Basin and Spokane were busy sweeping the visiting opposition Saturday the Yakima Valley ladies took down another typically tough opponent on the road again Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 victory at North Idaho College in advance of another big pair of games next week against fellow 2-0 sides Columbia Basin and Walla Walla.

On the men's side of the board it was another surprising draw for Walla Walla as the Warriors played to a stalemate against Blue Mountain after having played to a draw midweek against Treasure Valley.

NWAC East Update 9.11.19: Yakima Valley Tops Spokane in East Opener


Yakima Valley went from recording just their second-ever win against Spokane last fall at home to posting their second consecutive victory against the defending champions Wednesday afternoon - in Spokane - as the NWAC East kicked off play.

On the men's side it was a rough evening for the home sides as they went 0-2-1. The winners on the day, overall, posted shutouts in six of the seven matches.

On Wednesday, the CC Spokane Sasquatch ladies will take the pitch for the first time in 20 years without Jim Martinson at the reigns, facing a Yakima Valley College program that joined the NWAC seven years after Martinson was named head coach.

INWsn College Best XI - Weeks 1 & 2: Cottrell, Elwer and Peralta Off to Hot Starts

Goalkeeper Cydni Cottrell picked up where she left off last season and has Eastern Oregon off to a fantastic start as they prepare for the Cascade Conference season. Meanwhile, Idaho prep player of the year Lauren Elwer is having an immediate impact as a freshman for the Gonzaga women. In the NWAC, Jose Peralta has been a consistent spark for the Warriors at Walla Walla CC.
