About the Editor: Gerald Barnhart

Currently a writer and co-manager of TheCup.us, the only site dedicated to covering the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup - the country's only national championship tournament. I also serve as communications officer for the North American Soccer Reporters association.

Previously a long-time soccer administrator, I began working with the Spokane Shadow in the USL Premier Development League from 1997-99, watching and working with players like Brian Ching and Craig Waibel. I then joined United Soccer Leagues (Tampa, Fla.) and worked in the communications department through mid-2010. A native of Spokane, Wash., I graduated from Eastern Washington University with a degree in Journalism/Public Relations.
