HS Update 4.30.18: LC Claims GSL Title On Wild Final Day; Playoffs Begin


It was a fantastic finish to the GSL season on Friday with four teams vying for the league championship and postseason seeding. Even though some games on paper should have been easy, they were not and everyone saw a dramatic day in which every game finished with a 2-1 scoreline that included two shootouts, two comebacks an overtime golden goal and a few upsets.

HS Update 4.26.18: Close Contests As GSL 4A Race Remains Tight


Lewis & Clark was the lone team to post a big win Wednesday in Greater Spokane League play on a day that featured narrow decisions in the other four matchups. The results saw North Central snare the top 3A seed, but things on the 4A side are completely up in the air entering the final two days of the regular season.

HS UPDATE 4.24.18: Weekend Recap + Replay for CV-Rogers Granted


In a pair of contests side by side on Friday at Dwight Merkel there were two completely different stories. Mead, fighting to stay in contention among the 4A schools battled a game Shadle Park team in a narrow 2-1 victory while Central Valley rebounded from their midweek disaster at Rogers with a thumping of North Central 6-1.

HS Update: Central Valley Stunned by Rogers In Contested Match


In one of the most shocking results in at least 10 years, Rogers defeated Central Valley in a shootout after a 1-1 draw. That, however, may change as the match is currently under protest. Meanwhile, the rest of the GSL title contenders all picked up victories Wednesday and the leaders in the MCC, GNL and NEA all took care of business in their other respective matches.

Idaho Soccer, Other Sports Given Reprieve by State Board


Facing the potential of having to cut the women's soccer, men's golf and women's swimming & diving from its program, the University of Idaho went before the State Board of Eduction Thursday to request more time to erase budget deficits and present proposals that would aid in doing so. Following the hearing the board voted to grant a waiver to the university.

HS Update 4.17.18: Four-way Race for GSL After Ferris Win Over Bullpups


In a dramatic slate of action on Friday, Ferris used a first half goal from Caden Martin to hand Gonzaga Prep its first league loss, creating a foursome of teams at 4-1 at the midway point of the season. Lewis & Clark rallied for a 3-1 win over North Central in another contest and down south Kamiakin finally came out on top in a close one after losing all six previous games that were decided by one goal. There was also plenty of excitement in Hanford, where a two-goal Bomber lead was not enough against Kennewick.

HS Update 4.13.18: Pasco, Pullman & NC Suffer First Losses


Only two sides - Gonzaga Prep and Lakeside - remain unbeaten in Eastern Washington. Pullman suffered its first defeat during spring break and Pasco dropped their contest Tuesday evening in a stunning 5-1 scoreline at Kennewick in the MCC, but rebounded with a resounding win against co-leader Richland Thursday. On Wednesday, the Bullpups knocked North Central off the list in a battle of unbeatens as the GSL returned to play following the break.
