Spring sessions under way for area college programs, spring games near

Gonzaga Women to host Seven-A-Side event for fourth consecutive year | Photos: Gerald Barnhart
Having already started getting back into shape with training, fitness and weight sessions, many of the area's programs are prepared to hit the field with some spring friendlies and tournaments, announcing their slate of friendlies and events for the next two months.

The Gonzaga Men and Women are keeping quite busy. The ladies were set to open their spring game schedule this past weekend in Tri-Cities with a multi-school event with games against Portland State and Boise State in Pasco, but weather led to it's cancellation. Also slated to be there were Montana and Washington State.

Instead, the Bulldogs will kick things off March 29 in Pullman against Washington State before hosting a series of games at GU. They host Idaho and Central Washington April 5 in a full day of games that also includes a men's contest against Corban. The women host Montana a week later on April 12 and wrap things up with the Fourth Annual 7-v-7 event April 26 that will also include Idaho, Montana, CWU, EWU, CC Spokane and alumni teams.

After hosting Corban on April 5, the men take the field again the following day against Saint Martin's. They take to the road the following week with games at the University of Washington and Seattle University April 12 and 13. They wrap things up with a match versus Northwest Nazarene at Spokane Falls CC on April 26.

After hosting GU and UI March 29, the Cougars will be in action April 5 when they visit Boise State to play the Broncos and Utah State. They play the school's men's club team April 12 before heading to Nike World Headquarters April 19 to face the University of Portland. WSU wraps things up April 27 against the W-League's Sounders Women in Seattle.

Before they cross the border to face neighboring Washington State, the Vandals of Idaho will have an alumni match early in the day. On April 12, they will host North Idaho College in the morning before heading to Spokane to play NAIA champion Concordia, who will also play EWU that day.
