HS Daily - 3.28.17: Pasco, Wenatchee win top of table clashes


On Friday, the Columbia Basin Big Nine and Mid-Columbia Conference both had a pair of early season contests between teams sitting atop their respective tables. Wenatchee came out narrow 3-2 winners against Eisenhower while Pasco manhandled Hanford to the tune of a 4-0 victory on three goals and an assist from Jesus Meraz-Rodriguez.

Elsewhere in the MCC, Drew Fulton set up all three goals in Richland's 3-1 win at Walla Walla and Kamiakin won on the road, 3-1, with two goals from Isaiah Arechiga Friday. The following day, Kennewick also posted a big win, downing visiting Chiawana 4-1 on big performances from Eddie Castillo (two goals, assist) and Juan Cruz (two goals).

In other CBBN results Eastmont edged Davis 1-0 and Sunnyside cruised to a 3-0 home win against West Valley with two goals from Gonzalo Frausto.

In the Greater Spokane League, it was a day of one-sided affairs as most of the contests were 4A versus 3A. In the lone all-4A match-up, Central Valley rolled to a big win against visiting Mead with Connor Wold adding on to Devin Hauenstein's opener with a hat-trick by the 57th minute with Mead's lone tally coming late in the game to spoil the shutout.


In the other contests, Max Thompson scored both for Ferris in the first half for a 2-0 win at Shadle, Gonzaga Prep drubbed host Mt Spokane 6-0 with a pair of goals each from Luke Denke and Luke Allen. Brennan Murphy tallied his second hat-trick of the season to guide Lewis & Clark to a 3-1 win at Rogers and Adam Drassen scored twice for University in a 3-0 win against North Central.


In a make-up game Friday from Tuesday's postponement, Newport outlasted Medical Lake for a surprise victory via a shootout after a 2-2 draw in which Newport led twice on goals from Martin Roca.


In Great Northern League play on Saturday, East Valley dominated rival West Valley with Devonte Gorman tallying two goals and assist in a 4-0 win in which Marc Koma also tallied twice. Down south, Pullman edged Clarkston 2-1.
