More 2012 Schedules: Gonzaga Men & EWU Women

The Gonzaga University men’s program and Eastern Washington University women’s program recently announced their 2012 schedules. The Bulldogs have a schedule that will keep them on the Pacific Coast while the Eagles will face two new conference foes.

GONZAGA MEN

The Bulldogs kick off their campaign, which features three matches against teams that reached the 2011 NCAA tournament, with a meeting on the road against the University of Washington August 24. Seattle University will travel across the state to play Gonzaga two days later.

The first of the three NCAA Tournament opponents the Bulldogs will face is UC Santa Barbara, one of three schools coming to Spokane for the Gonzaga Nike Classic August 31-September 2. They are joining Manhattan College and Oregon State University.

The Bulldogs, however, will not play OSU until two weeks later in Corvallis. They then return a week later for the OSU Hensor/Zaher Nike Classic where they will face UC Irvine and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay September 21-23. Another NCAA Tournament team, Irvine finished first in the Big West ahead of second-place Santa Barbara.

Gonzaga stays in Oregon for their West Coast Conference opener three days later against the University of Portland, kicking off its 12-game conference schedule. GU will finish the campaign on the road November 9 against the University of San Francisco, having never left the three Pacific Coast states.

The non-league schedule is highlighted by the PSU Tournament September 7-9 when they will face 2011 NCAA Tournament participant Utah State as well as Boise State.

The following weekend the Eagles play host to the University of Idaho and Hawaii before kicking off their Big Sky Conference slate with a pair of home games September 21 and 23 against Weber State and Idaho State.

The regular season concludes October 21 on the road versus Southern Utah.
