Solo back in Seattle

She has been in Seattle for less than 24 hours, but Hope Solo is already the center of attention in her home state, where she will be playing for the W-League Seattle Sounders Women this season.

The Richland, Wash. native took some time for fans and media Wednesday at the Sounders training facility in Tukwila. She was fresh off a 10-hour flight from Japan where the US Women took part in an international tournament.

She met with the club for the first time since being announced, in February, as one of what has become five members of the US squad joining the team. She may get an immediate dose of action with a friendly scheduled for Monday against local Seattle Pacific University at Starfire Stadium.

Solo attended the University of Washington before going on to become one of the nation's best goalkeepers of all time.
"I'm so excited to be here," she told Joshua Mayers of the Seattle Times. "I always knew at the end of the day I'd end up back here, whether it was when I retire or even before that. The end goal is to really help build the game here in a city that I love. That's my ultimate goal, and hopefully win some games, as well — maybe a championship."
