Post Falls native and former SSC Shadow youth and Men's First Team player Timmy Mueller was selected Sunday in the Major League Soccer 2018 SuperDraft. The Oregon State striker was drafted in the third round, 63rd overall, by the nearby Portland Timbers.
Prior to joining Oregon State in the fall of 2014, Mueller played the second half of the debut campaign of the Spokane Shadow Men's First Team in the Evergreen Premier League, scoring three goals in helping lead the side to the league's inaugural championship. While in college, he spent further summers playing for Timbers U-23s in the USL Premier Development League.
At OSU he was the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year in 2014, an All-Pac-12 First Team selection in 2015 and an All-Pac-12 Second Team selection in 2016. The Post Falls, Idaho native contributed 23 goals and 10 assists in 67 career games for the Beavers.
As a youth player, Mueller played with SSC during his U14 and U15 seasons in addition to playing with Idaho Thunder. At Post Falls High School, he helped his team to the 5A Idaho state championship and earned the Idaho Player of the Year and Idaho Gatorade Player of the Year awards in 2013. He earned All-American honors in 2014 and finished with an Idaho state record with 104 career goals.
Gonzaga defender Ben White was taken with the last overall pick, 92nd, in the draft by reigning MLS champion Toronto FC.
An offensive threat coming from the back, White was honored numerous times playing for the Bulldogs, earning WCC All-Freshman Team in 2014, All-WCC First Team (2015) and Honorable Mention All-WCC (2014, 2016) honors during his collegiate career.
