INW Best XI - Week 3: CWU sisters combine for milestone; Opland guides CCS to sweep

Each week INWsoccernews will release lists of the week’s best performances for men’s and women’s soccer in the region, recognizing players at schools in the region or those from the area that play elsewhere in the nation.

BEST OF THE INLAND NORTHWEST XI - WOMEN

G - Stephanie Gibson (Yakima, WA) - Columbia Basin College :: Allowed just one goal, the opener on Tuesday, in three victories for the Hawks on the week tallying a combined 19 saves despite splitting time in two matches.

G - Sarah Wood (Spokane, WA) - Cleveland State :: Made one save in a 4-0 shutout for Cleveland State at Canisius Friday and made eight stops in a scoreless stalemate at 3-1-2 Niagara in a game in which they were outshot 15-7 Sunday.

D - Ashlynn Curnow (Boise, ID) - Northern Arizona :: She helped lead the Wildcats to a pair of shutout wins, starting in a 1-0 win over Wright State Friday and setting up the second goal with her throw-in for a 2-0 win against Grand Canyon.

D - Sydni Thomas (Greenacres, WA) - CC Spokane :: Registered four assists on the week, setting up both goals in a 2-0 victory at unbeaten Treasure Valley, the opening goal in a 4-0 win against Pierce and the lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Lane.

M - Caitlin Walter (Otis Orchards, WA) - Carroll College :: Scored twice in the first 15 minutes to lead the Saints to a 2-1 win at Evergreen State College Sunday.

M - Danielle Wieck - Whitman :: Scored the equalizer in a 2-1 overtime loss to Cal Lutheran Monday and tallied what proved to be the 2-1 winning goal in the conference opener against Whitworth. (Seattle, WA)

INW WOMEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK ::F & M - Hadli & Kellin Farrand (Ellensburg, WA) - Central Washington :: The two sisters combined to lead the team to its first win of the season, first game with more than one goal and - more importantly - their father's 100th CWU victory. Hadli, the senior striker, scored the go-ahead goal and set up the insurance tally while her sister Kellin, a sophomore midfielder, helped create Hadli's goal.

M/F - Jessica Spang (Billings, MT) - MSU-Billings :: The freshman had a goal and assist in a 2-0 victory Friday at Sioux Falls.

F - Danielle De La Vina - Great Falls :: Scored five goals in a 7-0 win over Presentation Saturday and both goals in a 2-1 overtime win at Jamestown Sunday. Her performance broke single-game and single-season Argo records.  (Gilbert, AZ)

F - Amanda Ellsworth - Idaho State :: With a hat-trick, she helped the Bengals mount a huge comeback, erasing a pair of two-goal deficits in the contest. (Roseville, CA)

F - Hallie Widner (Meridian, ID) - Montana :: The freshman set up two goals as the Grizzlies rallied to the lead only to come up short, 4-3 in overtime at Missouri.

BEST OF THE INLAND NORTHWEST XI - MEN

G - Damian Ruiz (Richland, WA) - CC Spokane :: Went perfect on the week with three shutouts, needing only seven combined saves in the three victories.

D - Eddie Guitierrez - Great Falls :: Helped lead the Argo defense in a pair of shutout wins on the road, downing Presentation College 3-0 Saturday and the unbeaten University of Jamestown 2-0 Sunday. (Las Vegas, NV)

M - Jorge Campos (Othello, WA) - Columbia Basin College :: Scored the opening two goals in a 2-2 draw against Wenatchee Valley Tuesday and played a role in the team's first four goals in a 7-2 victory Saturday against Southwest Oregon with two goals and two assists.

M - Matt Howard (Post Falls, ID) - North Idaho College :: Scored in a 5-1 win over Walla Walla CC and then added a goal and assist in a 4-1 win against Chemeketa.

M - Devin Leon - CC Spokane :: Set up both goals in a 2-0 win at Treasure Valley  and then tallied twice to double the score in a 4-0 win against Pierce. (Phelan, CA)

M - Stewart Miller (Helena, MT) - Puget Sound :: Goal and assist in a 3-0 victory Friday versus Hamline. Added a pair of assists as the Loggers held a 4-1 lead at the break in an 8-1 win against Trinity Lutheran.

M - Leo Pedroza (Walla Walla, WA) - Walla Walla CC :: Scored the deciding goal in a 1-0 win over Southwest Oregon and the opening goal in a 4-0 win against Chemeketa.

F - Erik Anderson (Boise, ID) - Northwest Nazarene :: Set up two goals in a 3-2 victory over Dominican.

INW MEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK :: F - Alex Opland (Rathdrum, ID) - CC Spokane :: Scored the opening goal in the 2-0 win at Treasure Valley, Friday in a 4-0 win against Pierce and again in a 3-0 win against South Puget Sound in a game in which he also finished the scoring with his fourth of the week.

F - Mike Ramos (Spokane, WA) - Whitworth :: Set up the opening goal and tallied the third goal for what proved to be the winning strike.

F - Fredy Razo - Northwest Nazarene :: Goal and two assists in a 3-2 victory over Dominican. (Irvine, CA)
