Plenty of action underway around the Northwest and for players from the region scattered throughout the nation. Nearly all the area schools have kicked off their non-league portion of their seasons.
Here's a quick glance...
NOTE: If you know a player from the area that is playing outside of the region (especially outside of the area's leagues), feel free to reach out via FB, Instagram or Twitter with their name and school to ensure they have not been left off the INWsn tracking list!
Big Sky :: The INWsn area trio of Montana, Idaho and Eastern Washington were picked to finish 3-5 in the preseason poll with Idaho State coming up in the 10th and final spot. Eastern's Riley Walkington (Sandpoint, ID) and Idaho's Avrie Fox (Defensive) were named as the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, in the opening week of play.
WCC :: The Gonzaga women were picked to finish fifth in the West Coast Conference while the men were picked to finish seventh in the conference.
MWC :: Boise State was voted the preseason favorite to win the Mountain West championship, and star striker Raimee Sherle (Meridian, ID) grabbed preseason headlines as a member of the MAC Hermann Trophy watch list.
PAC12 :: Washington State was picked to finish fourth in the conference behind the California trio of Stanford, UCLA and USC.
GNAC :: The area schools have only played exhibitions and scrimmages to date. Among the results were several in-state contests. Northwest Nazarene swept College of Idaho (3-1 men, 3-0 women) and MSU Billings played all of their Cascade counterparts as well. The men tied Rocky Mountain 1-1, beat Carroll 3-2 (OT) and lost 1-0 to Providence (OT) and the women lost 3-1 to RMC and 1-0 to Carroll before topping Providence 2-1. The preseason poll results were not friendly for the INWsn area sides with MSU Billings and Northwest Nazarene near the bottom at five and seven on the men's side. On the women's side Central Washington was middle of the list at five while Northwest Nazarene was six and MSUB eight. Plenty of players from the area, though, will be in the mix for GNAC title's with other schools. Men's Poll [+] Women's Poll [+]
