Five INW players near WPSL season with first-year Emerald City

The newly formed Women's Premier Soccer League team from the established youth club Emerald City FC recently announced a number of players joining the club for the summer, including five players from the Inland Northwest. Two players are arriving from the College of Idaho, one is from Eastern Washington University and another pair are former players from Washington State University.

Idaho natives Taylor Culver and Jessica Ayala will be making the trip to Seattle to play for the club. Culver, a senior from Nampa, and Ayala, a junior from Eagle, have both earned All-Cascade Conference honors for the College of Idaho. Both also won honors in high school with Culver earning All-Southern Idaho Conference honors at Skyview High School, where she helped lead the team to the final of the state tournament in 2007. Ayala also helped her school, Eagle HS, reach the state final in 2007, and was a two-time All-Southern Idaho Conference honoree.

A freshman at Eastern, Katie Cashman started in 12 matches and played in all but one contest for the Eagles, finishing the season second on the team in minutes played with 1,149 minutes in 14 appearances.

Megan Chapin, who just played her senior campaign with Western Washington, spent her first two seasons with WSU, seeing action in 18 games of each season for the Cougars.

After red-shirting her first year at Washington State, Caitlin Bonney appeared in nine matches her second season and started in 20 of 21 appearances in her third, winning the team award for most-improved. The daughter of a former Ireland Olympic marathoner, Bonney, left the program after that season.
