WSU trio off to slow start with Whitecaps Women

It has been a difficult - some would say surprising - start for the W-League's Vancouver Whitecaps so far this season, going winless in their first two games. The three Washington State University products on the squad have seen action in the two one-goal losses.

Nicole Setterlund has played the entirety of both matches on the back line.

Alison Fenter (Shadle HS, Spokane Shadow youth) started and played the first half of the season-opening 3-2 road loss to the Victoria Highlanders, leaving the the match with the game level 1-1 at the break.

Brandi Vega came off the bench for 11 minutes in the second contest, a 1-0 loss at home to Colorado Rush.

Idle this week, Vancouver's season resumes next Sunday with a high-profile match against the Seattle Sounders Women, who will be making their season debut with marquee international plays, including Richland, Wash. native Hope Solo,  one of several US National Team players on the squad.
