College Polls and Awards 9.21.16

Here is a quick look at the rankings for the teams in the northwest-based leagues around the nation and awards handed out in those leagues to INWsn area players.

IN THE POLLS ##### 

DI -- The Washington State women received votes in this week's poll.

DII -- Simon Fraser of the GNAC is ranked number six in the men's poll while the Western Washington women are number seven.

DIII -- In the men's poll, the Whitworth men dropped out of the top 25 due to losses on their trip to the east coast, but they did receive votes along with Whitman. On the women's side Pacific Lutheran is representing the NWC at number 16.

NAIA -- Corban moved up in the poll to number 11 and Rocky Mountain came in at number 25 in the men's poll while Carroll College received votes on the women's side.

JC -- CC Spokane came in at number 15 in the women's Top 20 poll with Peninsula close behind at 19. No NWAC teams were represented in the men's poll.

AWARDS #####

Great Northwest Athletic Conference (DII)... 
Brady Ulen (Coeur d'Alene, ID / Shadow MFT) was named the Defensive Player of the Week for leading Western Washington to a 1-0 shutout win over 18th ranked Fort Hays State.

Northwest Conference (DIII)... 
Whitworth's Jonah Snyder was honored as the Offensive Player of the Week for scoring in a pair of goals on the week, providing the lone strike in a 3-1 loss in New Jersey to Montclair State and the 87th minute winner Sunday against Linfield in a 1-0 result. It is the second consecutive time he has received the honor.

Sarah Bailey (Bend, OR) was named Defensive Player of the Week for making nine total saves in a pair of shutout victories for the Lindfield Wildcats.

Cascade Collegiate Conference (NAIA)... 
Eastern Oregon's Chelsey Nicol was named Defensive Player of the Week for helping lead the team to a pair of shutout wins. Carroll's Michaela Kueffler (Billings, MT) was recognized as the Offensive Player of the Week for scoring a game-winning-goal against Northwest Christian and earning an assist against Corban to lead the Saints to a 2-0 start.

Northwest Athletic Conference (JC)... 
Columbia Basin's Jesus Delgado (Yakima, WA) was recognized as the Player of the Week for leading the Hawks to a 3-1 win over Spokane with all three goals in the contest Wednesday.
