NWAC East Update 10.24.19: Warrior Women Clinch NWAC East Title

In a pair of doubleheaders in Spokane and Coeur d'Alene eight of the top nine teams were in action across the women's and men's tables. In women's action a draw at North Idaho between the Cardinals and Columbia Basin allowed unbeaten Walla Walla to clinch the NWAC East title with a tightly contested 2-0 win at Spokane that saw just five shots on goal combined. On the men's side a draw between Spokane and Walla Walla and a CBC win at NIC essentially set the three teams headed to the postseason as Spokane became the second to clinch and Wenatchee Valley holds a six point lead for the final berth with games left versus the bottom two.

W - Columbia Basin 1-1 North Idaho... Sofia Schnepf scored the opening goal via Autumn Stewart to give the Cardinals the advantage, but the Hawks pulled even in the 32nd through Shayne Ashe (Lewiston, ID).

W - Walla Walla 2-0 Spokane... In a tight contest the Warriors grabbed the lead 14 minutes in when a throw-in deep in the offensive end came to Caitlin Crist (Twin Falls, ID). With a defender on her back the striker turned and fired from the right side of the box, finding the far side netting with a perfect shot. With Spokane pushing for an equalizer the Warriors took advantage of another restart in the offensive end with Crist sending a ball through the six that Sariah Valencia (Grandview, WA) knocked home at the far post in the 90th minute. Josey Gunter (MaCammon, ID) finished with one save for the Warriors.
