College Recap - WCC & PAC-12: Cougars top Huskies, hope for NCAA spot

The Gonzaga women wrapped up their campaign with a thumping of nearby rival Eastern Washington in a non-conference match-up while Washington State continued its run of dominance over state rival Washington, hoping that an NCAA tournament berth is in the future with a 12-6-1 overall record.

Sunday
Eastern Washington 1 :: 4 Gonzaga (non-conf)
The Eagles took the initial advantage when Siara Byers took advantage of a second chance and sent a low 22 yard effort just inside the left post in the 34th minute. Tori Lee, however, answered with a low shot of her own six minutes later, sending a free kick from the top of the area inside the right post. Lauren Luke gave the hosts the lead just before the break as the Zags began to take control. The second half was highlighted by the seniors honored before the game with Emma Dolcetti scoring on a nice header on the hour mark and nearly adding a second with less than two minutes left. Her breakaway, though, was nicely denied by EWU keeper Jamie Walker only for it to roll to the side for a two-yard finish for Alicia Beggren, a senior reserve keeper that had just come on as a field player moments before.. – MORE
