Gonzaga, WSU reschedule spring friendly

The Gonzaga University women's soccer team announced today that their spring schedule opener at home against Washington State University, set for Saturday, has been rescheduled for April 7 (4:00 pm) due to a schedule conflict for the Cougars.

The new date also resulted in the Zags moving their match against the men's club team to a date that is yet to be determined.

A source close to the situation said the change was made to allow for the Cougars to play the Canadian U20 Womens National Team in Portland on Sunday.

The Canadian Soccer Association is holding a U17-U19 Women's National Excel camp in Portland from March 16-25 as they begin a new cycle for U20 players in preparation for the 2014 U20 Women's World Cup being held in Canada.

According to the CSA site, the U20 camp squad, featuring 23 players, will also be playing the University of Portland on Friday, March 22.

The women's team also unveiled via Facebook the players recently honored at the annual Gonzaga Soccer Celebration, which honors the seniors and celebrates the accomplishments of the previous season.
