With the Spokane Shine set to play its first game under new coach Dan Philp Tuesday night (7:00 pm) under the lights at their new Spokane Falls CC home against visiting amateur squad Montana Flathead Rapids, the club has finalized its initial roster for the 2013 campaign.

In addition to the 14 previously unveiled prior to the club's tryout sessions, 13 more players are among the final group the club, which is undergoing sort of a re-birth considering it has a new coach, new home and new logo this year. Returning player Jami Hegg, the standout senior defender from the 2012 Whitworth campaign, highlights the second half of the roster shared by coach Dan Philp.

"We may add some more as the season progresses," Philp said of the 27. The coach noted during the tryout sessions that several players located outside of the greater Spokane area (Seattle and Portland) may join the team for short stints while they are on the road.

Among the 27 total players are a dozen players that are currently in high school or are heading to college in the fall. While the roster varies from high school to college graduates, all three goalkeepers were freshmen at their universities last fall, including Gonzaga's Christie Tombari.  Eighteen of the players hail from the Greater Spokane League with two each from the Great Northern League and Inland Empire League (Idaho).

Salt Lake City's Lisa Clausen, a teammate of Spokane's Allison Jordan at New Mexico Highlands University, will be the player furthest from her hometown this summer. She is the only player slated to play for the Shine that is not from Washington or Idaho.

The season begins with a pair of home games at SFCC Saturday, June 1 against newcomer Westside Timbers and Saturday, June 8 Emerald City. Both matches will be at 7:00 pm.
