LD Soccer News on Facebook
The weekly edition of the mixed Lower Division power rankings based on results from all competitions, including the US Open Cup which all the American-based NASL and USL Pro teams have now played in.

This Week (Last Week) Club (League) :: W-L-D :: Notes

(1) Orlando City (USL Pro) :: 8-1-2 :: Posted a convincing 4-1 victory over Wilmington after a narrow 2-1 win against the PDL Ocala Stampede in the US Open Cup.

(2) Richmond Kickers (USL Pro) :: 5-0-3 :: Posted a big victory against Harrisburg, blanking the City Islanders 2-0 Friday after easily moving past the USASA's Icon FC in the US Open Cup.

(5) Carolina RailHawks (NASL) :: 3-1-2 :: The team was idle in league play after posting a 3-1 victory against local PDL side Carolina Dynamo in the US Open Cup.

(3) Tampa Bay Rowdies (NASL) :: 3-2-2 :: Won the showdown with USL Pro VSI Tampa Bay in the US Open Cup 2-1, but in league play suffered a 3-2 home loss to Minnesota, whom they beat by the same score on the road the week before.

(7) Charleston Battery (USL Pro) :: 6-2-1 :: The Battery nabbed a narrow 1-0 road win in the Open Cup Tuesday against the Timbers U23 PDL team before returning home to face Rochester. The struggling Rhinos snared a point with a scoreless draw as Charleston played the final half-hour a man down.

(4) Harrisburg City Islanders (USL Pro) :: 5-2-1 :: After an upset loss 1-0 to fellow Philadelphia Union affiliate Reading United of the PDL in the US Open Cup, the team had a quick turnaround to face fellow title contender Richmond in league play Friday - a 2-0 loss.

(6) Charlotte Eagles (USL Pro) :: 3-1-4 :: The 3-0 Open Cup win Tuesday against the PDL Sounders U23 was easy compared to their road trip, though the performance out west was not terrible considering the situation. They tied Phoenix 2-2 on Thursday after leading twice and nearly rallied from three down in a 4-3 loss to LA Saturday.

(8) Atlanta Silverbacks (NASL) :: 4-2-1 :: After advancing in the Open Cup against nearby NPSL entry Georgia Revolution 3-2, the Silverbacks edged struggling San Antonio 1-0.

(11) LA Blues (USL Pro) :: 5-5-2 :: Blasted nearby PDL side Ventura County 5-1 in the Open Cup and then took advantage of tired and previously unbeaten Charlotte to win 4-3 despite nearly blowing three-goal lead.

(12) Dayton Dutch Lions (USL Pro) :: 4-2-1 :: Dispatched the USASA's Dearborn Stars, who fell apart in overtime, 4-1 in the Open Cup Tuesday and then rolled against hapless Antigua 3-1 Sunday.

(10) Minnesota United (NASL) :: 3-2-2 :: After suffering a 1-0 upset loss in the Open Cup to the PDL Des Moines Menace, Minnesota rebounded for a 3-2 road win against Tampa Bay.

(9) FC Edmonton (NASL) :: 2-3-2 :: A second half penalty at home against last place Fort Lauderdale was the deciding factor in their 1-0 loss.

(14) VSI Tampa Bay (USL Pro) :: 5-3-0 :: After falling 2-1 to local NASL foe Tampa Bay Rowdies in the Open Cup, the newcomers rebounded with a narrow 1-0 win against a struggling Wilmington side that had played in Orlando the night before.

(15) Rochester Rhinos (USL Pro) :: 1-6-2 :: The Rhinos escaped embarrassment with a 1-0 win against PDL side GPS Portland Phoenix in the Open Cup, but followed it up with a respectable scoreless draw in Charleston, though they had a man advantage for a half-hour in a game that cost them two starting backs to injury.

(16) Fort Lauderdale Strikers (NASL) :: 2-4-1 :: The club survived a scare from the PDL Laredo Heat in the Open Cup, advancing 7-6 in penalties after a 1-1 draw at home. The club then traversed the continent and snared another narrow result with a 1-0 win in Edmonton on a second half penalty.

(19) Phoenix FC (USL Pro) :: 2-5-3 :: Idle from the Open Cup after their earlier elimination, the Wolves took advantage of a tired Charlotte Eagles side Thursday with two equalizers in a 2-2 draw at home.

(13) San Antonio Scorpions (NASL) :: 1-4-2 ::  Knocked out of the Open Cup Tuesday via the penalty kick tiebreaker (4-3) after a 2-2 draw with PDL upstarts FC Tucson, things did not get any better as they saw a potential scoreless draw in Atlanta spoiled with four minutes left.

(17) Wilmington Hammerheads (USL Pro) :: 2-7-0 ::  The team won 2-0 on the road in the Open Cup against the PDL Austin Aztex, but the extended road trip to Florida for a league double dip added two more losses to the ledger as they fell 4-1 in Orlando and 1-0 to Tampa Bay.

(18) Pittsburgh Riverhounds (USL Pro) :: 2-4-4 :: It was virtually a week off for the Riverhounds, who were already knocked out of the Open Cup, as they rolled to a 2-0 win against Antigua Friday.

(20) Antigua Barracuda (USL Pro) :: 0-9-0 :: The woes continue, falling 2-0 in Pittsburgh Friday and 3-1 in Dayton Sunday.
