AC Seattle win inaugural match, blank Spokane Shine 4-0

Newcomers AC Seattle took it to the Spokane Shine in their debut Sunday evening, blanking the visitors 4-0 for their first win in the WPSL with Romina Pinna capping the evening with the final two goals. The result drops Spokane, who were on the road for the first time, to 0-3-0 on the season.

AC Seattle celebrate win in inaugural game | AC Seattle
On the attack from the onset against a tired Shine squad that played at home the night before and travelled across the state for the second game in 24 hours, the Italian-flavored side thought they were on the board 11 minutes in only to see Valentina Giacinti's tally waved off for being offside.

Deborah Salvatori Rinaldi would break through for the club's first-ever goal, however, on the half-hour mark and nearly made it two seven minutes later.

Despite regular pressure from Seattle, the Shine kept the rookie club close going into the break with some nice saves and a little luck as a shot from Allesandra Barreca struck off the crossbar in stoppage time.

Ten minutes into the second half Allesandra Nencioni converted from the penalty spot to push the lead to two, and in the 65th the hosts saw a third ball hit the back of the net only to be negated for an offside call.

Seattle pulled away in the final 20 minutes with Romina Pinna scoring in the 72nd and then narrowly getting her second in the 81st with an effort that struck the crossbar.

The Shine stopped a nice free kick from Viviana Schiavi in the 83rd but only two minutes later Pinna found her second of the evening to cap the night.

Evergreen Cup Update: The win was obviously the first for AC Seattle since it was their league debut. Spokane falls to 0-2-0 in the competition.
