LD College Round-Up: Getting ready for the season

Here's a quick glance around the region for the DII, DIII and NAIA programs that have been in action (games through Sunday, August 28). Some contests may be exhibitions that were not identified by the school/conference.

Saturday, August 20
Rocky Mountain 1 :: 0 MSU-Billings
The pair were deadlocked well into the second half before Rita Marshall tallied in the 71st minute to give RMC the victory. Lia Unterholzner needed just two saves for the shutout.

College of Idaho 4 :: 3 Menlo
Jamiece Yizar (Pocatello, ID) found Katelyn Benavidez for the opener just three minutes into the contest and then doubled the lead in the 11th with a goal of her own. The hosts answered with two goals to even it up at the break. Maddie Brown (Greenleaf, ID / CC Spokane) tallied in the 53rd to go back in front only to see Menlo answer with two more.

Eastern Oregon 0 :: 0 Northwest Nazarene - Exhibition
The two sides dueled to a scoreless scoreless stalemate. Sonia Watkins and Cassidy Watkins combined for the EOU clean sheet while Chloe Sholtz (Spokane, WA) and Daniele Ortiz each had half in the NNU shutout.

Monday, August 22

College of Idaho 3 :: 1 William Jessup
Trailing at the break, the Yotes tallied three unanswered for the win. Jamiece Yizar converted a one-on-one situation in the 55th and Sabrina Mallett knocked in a Morgan Childs corner kick in the 59th. Summer Jackson (Boise, ID) added some insurance in the 66th.

Tuesday, August 23

Sheridan 0 :: 3 MSU-Billings - Exhibition
After a scoreless first half in which the Yellowjackets outshot Sheridan 11-1, the hosts finally broke through less than two minutes into the second period when a Claire Tevaseu cross was headed in by Kari Kastelic for the opener. Alexa Iocolucci scored the other two goals, putting away a cross from Jessica Spang (Billings, MT) in the 55th and Mackenzie Breeden's ball in the 83rd from 25 yards. Katelynn Kerkvliet made two saves for the shutout.

Wednesday, August 24

Northwest 6 :: 4 Sierra Nevada
Whitney Weaver (Spokane, WA) scored in the Eagles' win.

Thursday, August 25

Carroll 0 :: 1 Menlo
The Saints gave up the deciding goal in the 83rd minute.

Pacific 2 :: 1 Corban
Lexi McQueary (Kennewick, WA) got on the end of cleared ball and scored in the 28th minute to tie things up.

Friday, August 26

College of Idaho 0 :: 1 Northwest Nazarene - Exhibition
Five minutes before the break Ashley Cook-Cox (Spokane, WA) provided the deciding goal of the contest. Hannah Holm (Spokane, WA) and Madi Taylor (Lewiston, ID / Treasure Valley CC) combined to set up the goal. Chloe Scholtz and Daniele Ortiz combined for the shutout.

Saturday, August 27

Northwest College 0 :: 5 MSU-Billings - Exhibition
The Yellowjackets jumped in front early with a pair of goals from Alycia Wright. The first came six minutes in on an assist from Jessica Spang and the second came after she stole the ball in the box in the 16th. Spang then scored two of her own. Wright set up the first with a through ball in the 25th and the second came on a cross from Erin Reynolds in the 61st. Goalkeeper Lili Delgadillo found Bailey Griglio for the final score in the 68th while combining with Katelynn Kerkvliet for the shutout.

Carroll 1 :: 2 The Master's College
Down by two, Payton Netz (Great Falls, MT) scored on a ball from Alison Zimmerman (Great Falls, MT) in the 81st, but it was not enough.

Northwest 6 :: 0 Simpson
Annie Shellerud (Spokane, WA) scored the second goal in the 34th minute and set up the final goal in the 70th by Whitney Weaver.

Sierra Nevada 0 :: 5 Corban
Lexi McQueary set up the opening goal 32 minutes in as well as the second tally four minutes later.

Univ of Mary 4 :: 0 Rocky Mountain
NA

Eastern Oregon 0 :: 1 George Fox
An own goal in the final minute of the first half proved to be the decisive goal.

Sunday, August 28

Carroll 5 :: 0 Mills College
Michaela Kueffler (Billings, MT) netted the opener in the 13th minute and Payton Netz doubled it in the 28th. Cassidy Walter (Otis Orchards, WA) scored the first goal of the second half in the  55th and an own goal made it four in the 58th. Charly Clements capped the scoring on a ball from Makayla Welch (Boise, ID) in the 88th. Neither Jamie Carter or Devan Murfitt (Bozeman, MT) needed to make a save.

Eastern Oregon 3 :: 1 Lewis & Clark College - Exhibition
Anna Roslander put the Mountaineers in front 13 minutes in via Yasmin Mookerdum and then Nan Kiebert (Sandpoint, ID) found Mariana Madrigal four minutes later to double the lead. The hosts answered just before halftime, but Kiebert helped restore the two-goal lead, connecting with Katherine Hood in the 78th.

Sierra Nevada 1 :: 3 Evergreen
After falling behind, ESC rebounded in the 21st to pull even and then grabbed the lead when the rebound of a Kylie Gorton (Moscow, ID / Walla Walla CC) effort was put away in the 68th. Ellie Engel (Sandpoint, ID / NIC) then added some insurance two minutes later.

Thursday, August 18

College of Idaho 1 :: 0 Embry-Riddle (AZ)
Carter Perry (Boise, ID) provided the lone goal in the 58th minute off a cross from Joseph Lopeyok. Grant Billings made five saves for the shutout.

Univ of Lethbridge 3 :: OT :: 2 Carroll
Jose Porras put Kyle Thomson (Bigford, MT) on a run to goal in the 59th minute to break stalemate, but the Canadians answered less than a minute later and took the lead in the 80th. Two minutes later a short corner was sent into the box by Jonathan Taylor (Missoula, MT), finding Isaac Bostrom (Helena, MT) for the equalizer. Four minutes into over time Nick Leszcynski took a ball from Mike Weigle and hit the upper corner for the win.

Friday, August 19

Rocky Mountain 1 :: 0 MSU-Billings - Exhibition
The two sides were deadlocked until Chasen Lasure beat two defenders before putting one past Joe Scott (Spokane, WA) for the game-winner. Cole Catlin (Billings, MT) posted three saves for the shutout.

Saturday, August 20

Fraser Valley 0 :: 2 Western Washington - Exhibition
The Vikings scored off a pair of crosses in the first half and held on for the victory. Eleazar Galvan (Chelan, WA / Wenatchee FC) tallied the opener in the 19th minute.

College of Idaho 1 :: 2 Arizona Christian
The Yotes trailed after nine minutes and pulled even in the 70 on a penalty from Guilherme Siqueira, but a penalty for the hosts 10 minutes later decided the contest.

Monday, August 22

MSU-Billings 1 :: 4 Carroll - Exhibition
Carroll dominated from the start and grabbed a three-goal lead in the opening 17 minutes. Jose Mena set up Jose Porras for the opener just three minutes in and found Isaac Bostrom six minutes later. Bostrom turned provider for Rodrigo Portillo's tally in the 17th and tallied himself again in the 89th to cap the game. The Yellowjackets' lone goal in the 66th was tallied by Julien Dragomir via Thiago Novis.

Tuesday, August 23

Simpson University 0 :: 4 Oregon Tech
Brennan Gazdik (Boise, ID) scored twice in the second half to put the game out of reach.

Saturday, August 27

Northwest 1 :: 7 MSU-Billings - Exhibition
Thiago Novis found Ricardo Palomino 12 minutes in but Northwest answered just two minutes later. After that, though, it was all MSUB. Palomino scored back to back goals in the 17th and 18th minutes via Garret Robinson and Julian Toenges. Tom Saltwell finished a cross from Flavio Colasanti to cap the first half scoring. An Alexis Chavez through ball set up Ian Bream (North Bend, OR) in the 56th ant Toenges delivered a cross to Julien Dragomir in the 73rd. Palomino netted a fourth a minute later off a cross from Eli Williams (Spokane, WA).

College of Idaho 1 :: 2 Northwest Nazarene - Exhibition
NNU grabbed the lead 16 minutes in when Michael Mollay (Boise, ID / Spokane Shadow First Team) connected with Keon Jones and doubled the advantage when Ebu Camara knocked in a loose ball just over four minutes into the second half. The Yotes answered four minute later when Carter Perry put away a free kick from Joao Cardoso.

Puget Sound 1 :: 3 Western Washington - Exhibition
Eleazar Galvan  tallied a goal and assist in the opening 25 minutes as the Vikings grabbed a three-goal advantage.

Carroll 3 :: OT :: 2 The Master's College
Eric Hollenbaugh (Spokane, WA) put Carroll on the board 19 minutes into the contest, but the opposition answered with goals in the 44th and 57th to move in front. Rodrigo Portillo, though, answered with a pair of goals of his own, tallying on a ball from James Lamont in the 67th and and putting away a rebound of a Dylan Allen (Helena, MT) attempt in the fifth minute of overtime.

Northwest 4 :: 0 Simpson
Jacob Weaver (Spokane, WA) doubled the lead in the 31st minute as the Eagles rolled to the win.

Univ of Mary 0 :: 4 Rocky Mountain

Sunday, August 28

Carroll 1 :: 5 Westminster
Going up against their old conference foes, the Saints found an equalizer in the 30th minute when a corner kick from Rodrigo Portillo rebounded to Kyle Thomson. The Griffins, though, scored four unanswered in the second half.
