On Friday, it started with Ferris edging Mead 2-1 to go top of the table and finished with Gonzaga Prep edging defending champion Central Valley on penalties while North Central was going to 1-0-1 against 4A opposition with a 1-0 win against University next door.

The Greater Spokane League kicked off with a banger of a doubleheader at Joe Albi Stadium Wednesday night with Central Valley winning an exciting battle of contenders 2-0 against Lewis & Clark in the opener, which was followed by another thriller that saw North Central upset Mead in a shootout after a 1-1 draw.
