Lewis & Clark was the lone team to post a big win Wednesday in Greater Spokane League play on a day that featured narrow decisions in the other four matchups. The results saw North Central snare the top 3A seed, but things on the 4A side are completely up in the air entering the final two days of the regular season.
Greater Spokane League
Regardless of the CV-Rogers replay Thursday, the final day of the GSL season will be a dramatic one on Friday. Lewis & Clark and Ferris sit atop the table going into the final matchday with LC visiting third-place Gonzaga Prep, which is only one point back of the pair, and Ferris on the road at University, which has been a difficult opponent for the top sides thus far. The Bears sit five points back, but with a win in the replay Thursday can pull within two with a match against winless Shadle Park on the calendar for Friday.
University is locked into the fifth and final playoff spot for the 4A schools while North Central, by virtue of the two points from their shootout win against Rogers, is assured of the top 3A spot as they head into their finale against Mt Spokane.
Mt Spokane 2-1 Shadle Park
The Highlanders grabbed the lead for the first time in league play this season with a score shortly after the break. The Wildcats, though, pulled even on a lengthy 40-yard effort from Peter Stewart that slipped through the hands of the keeper off the bounce. Kinkade McMurray would tally the winner with just over two minutes remaining off a corner (5:20 on Facebook LIVE LOOK IN).
North Central 2-1 (SO) Rogers
Derric Deatherage put NC on the board 14 minutes in when he picked the ball up as he crossed the top of the box, quickly firing from about 17 yards. The Pirates pulled even early in the second half via Rabin Gurung and the contest went the distance from there - and then some - before coming to a close in the eighth round of the shootout. NC missed its first attempt to open the tiebreaker, but Josh Ruff saved the first from Rogers to keep things even. [Shootout on Facebook LIVE LOOK IN]
