HS Update 5.11.18: Pasco Wins 4A Regional Title

A dominant season in the Mid-Columbia Conference saw the Bulldogs lead nearly from the start in league play, but Thursday evening Pasco needed to rally to claim the 4A regional title with a late equalizer and shootout tiebreaker decision against Greater Spokane League champion Lewis & Clark.

4A GSL & MCC PLAYOFFS

Pasco 2-1 (SO) Lewis & Clark - 4A Regional Final
Bailey Rosenau gave the Tigers the advantage seven minutes into the contest with a header off cross from Lewie Barbe. Oscar Cortez, though, has continued to be a key playmaker for Pasco, finding Nathan Martinez, who fired from about 20 yards out in the 67th. Cortez, who finished league play with nine goals and five assists, has a goal and four assists in three playoff games and is in the midst of a nine-game streak with a goal or assist in a competitive match.

3A GSL & MCC PLAYOFFS

Rogers 0-1 Kamiakin [elimination match]
In a close-fought affair, a strong individual run from Christian Anguiano through the box and a pair of defenders resulted in the deciding goal, sending Kamiakin back to Spokane Saturday afternoon (2:00 at Joe Albi) for a rematch against North Central. The two finished in a scoreless stalemate last Saturday at SFCC with NC advancing to the regional final via the shootout tiebreaker.

Upcoming GSL-MCC Playoff Games

The final two games of the regional tourneys this weekend will essentially determine the 'losers bracket' winners and the final berths to the state tournaments. The winner of the 4A contest is the third berth to state while in 3A the second berth is at stake.

Great Northern League (+ CWAC) / Northeast A League

To no surprise, Lakeside took care of business in the District 7 NEA championship game. After a scoreless first half, Lukas Ousley fed a ball across the box to an open Ethan Williams for the opener four minutes after the break. Just four minutes late Williams picked up a ball from Jeffrey Friedman as they drove up the right side and then dished it into the middle, finding Nathan McClellan for a looping shot from 26 yards. Williams locked the match up with a drive down the middle that drew the defense, allowing him to slip it off to his right for an open Friedman for the final tally. SWX Highlights [+]
