The positive results for the opening rounds of postseason play kicked off on Saturday with Lewis & Clark taking care of business against Hanford. Then on Tuesday, the Tigers were, however, the lone side to falter in five matchups between the two leagues, including a three-game sweep among the 3A contingent that has an all-GSL semifinal setup that guarantees at least two will be headed to state.
And the night was full of drama as well. Central Valley posted a stunning two-goal rally to win 3-2 against Chiawana, Mead survived a tight 1-0 affair against Hermiston and University pulled off the upset of the night - according to seeding - with a shootout win against top MCC 3A seed Southridge after a scoreless contest.

Hanford 0-5 Lewis & Clark
Chloe Bafus knocked in a rebound three minutes in and the Tigers never looked back, cruising past the Falcons. Bafus would score again a quarter hour later, taking a pass and toe poking it through the hands of the keeper. Claire Worthy scored a header from a corner kick just before break to give the hosts a comfortable 3-0 halftime lead. A perfect, long free kick from Caeli Dornay would drop right into the path of Inga Mitchell to make it four and a rebound putaway by Gretchen Dornay would close things out.

(GSL 3) Lewis & Clark 1-3 Kamiakin (MCC 2)
Kamiakin jumped out to an early lead when Kate Christian placed a low shot just inside the right post from the top of the penalty area, and the lead would grow to two just four minutes later when Hannah Whitemarsh scored directly from a corner kick. From there, LC settled in for a back-and-forth affair, halving the lead seven minutes into the second half on a brilliant strike from Sofia Alfaro. But, it was the Braves' night as Mya Lee reclaimed the two-goal lead, redirecting a Margot Massey cross into the back of the net.

(GSL 5) Ridgeline 2-5 Mt Spokane (GSL 1)
Less than two weeks removed from their initial one-sided meeting, the Falcons made things a bit tougher for the Wildcats, but the hosts still built up a three goal advantage before the young squad put two on the board. Mt Spokane, though, responded by pushing the lead back to three. The first was great play that started from a run by Mia Gibbs up the middle left before she dished off to Bre Koscielski for a cross that Addi Emonson deftly nodded home. Cami Hattenburg created the second by dispossessing a defender for an easy cross through the six to Karlee Whitehead at the back post seven minutes later. A miscommunication allowed the Falcons back in it just before the break as a lofted ball dropped down inside the right side of the box between the back line and keeper, allowing Preslie Young to put it away. She then made a determined play early in the second half, driving through the defense to score her second, but it was not enough. A beautiful free kick from Kylie Stiles put the exclamation point on the match to push the lead back to two before a loose ball on a corner capped the scoring.

(GSL 4) University 0-0 (4-2 SO) Southridge (MCC 1)
The Titans went toe-to-toe with the top 3A seed out of the MCC with Aubree Carpenter making nine saves in the contest and playing a key role in the shootout. University took advantage of a miss and a save from Carpenter in the tiebreaker to lock up the victory in four rounds as they converted all of theirs.

(MCC 3) Hermiston 0-1 Mead (GSL 2)
The majority of the contest was spent in Hermiston's half of the pitch, but they did well to limit good looks on goal and when they did occur they were either straight out or saved nicely by Lindsey Pasena-Littlesky, who made a nice save in the first half and another from point-blank range in the second to keep it scoreless for most of the meeting before a deflected shot created a tough ball to handle on the goal line before Masyn Thielman was able to knock in.
