College Notebook 9.17.19: Non-League Update


The league seasons are fast approaching. Kicking off this week are the Cascade Collegiate Conference (NAIA) and Northwest Conference (DIII) on Friday and Saturday, respectively.  Providence, Rocky Mountain, Carroll and Walla Walla will be at home while Eastern Oregon travels in CCC action. Whitworth and Whitman are both on the road as they open against the powerhouses Puget Sound and Pacific Lutheran over the weekend.

Marquee Match-Ups - Women

9.05 - Washington State 1-0 Gonzaga... The Zags created some chances against a dominant Cougar side and Isabel Jones made seven saves to keep the game scoreless. In overtime though, a turnover by the Bulldogs at midfield was taken by Averie Collins (Bozeman, MT), a grad student from Stanford, up the left side before she ripped the winner from distance just nine seconds in. 9.06 - Boise State 1-0 v Idaho State... The Bengals managed to keep Raimee Sherle off the board, but the Broncos did finally break through in the 64th minute via Raven Sweeney, who tallied in her third consecutive game. Sydney Smith (Caldwell, ID) recorded four saves in the shutout while Katie Hogarth was busy at the other end with eight stops.
9.12 - Carroll 0-0 MSU Billings... The two Montana foes battled to a scoreless draw with MSUB's Erinn Harder and Carroll's Sydney Green each making four saves for shutouts.

9.14 - Providence 0-4 Rocky Mountain... The Battlin Bears dominated the contest, allowing just one shot from the Argos as they rolled to the win. Mhari Smith tallied in the 12th and Alexis Robbins made it two in the 32nd. Lauryn Gamache scored twice in the second half with Kayla Mader (Billings, MT) and Tiara Duford (Polson, MT) recording the assists. Maia Wetzel (Helena, MT) did earn a save on the lone Argo shot.

9.04 - Northwest Christian 0-6 Linfield... Amidee Colleknon (Bend, OR) registered an assist for the Wildcats.
9.05 - Central Washington 2-1 Fresno Pacific... After falling behind, Maci Parke tallied in 59th and Sydney Lowe provided winner in 85th.

Erin Healy made it three and with five left Payton Stiles (Spokane, WA) launch a cross from well out on the left that floated and dropped in over the keeper. 9.08 - Utah Valley 0-5 Santa Clara... Kelsey Turnbow (Spokane, WA) helped create the first two goals and then scored the next two, the latter set up by Kelcie Hedge (Post Falls, ID).9.08 - Whitworth 0-1 Occidental

Shayenn Thompson scored three goals with Isabelle Martineau (Libby MT), Adri Contreras and Kate Sisler netting the others. Ashlee Howell (Polson, MT) had a pair of assists and Dakota Neumann registered the one-save shutout.
9.08 - Rocky Mountain 2-1 (OT) Jamestown... Alyssa Schneider tied the match up in the 56th minute and Lauryn Gamache netted the winner in the final minute of overtime.

9.08 - MSU Texas 1-3 Fort Lewis... Corinne Sanderson (Corvallis, MT) set up the opening goal in the win.

WOMEN - Applicable Results / Notes for Week 4  [games through 9.15]

9.10 - Hope International 0-6 Eastern Oregon... Erika Skindlov (Coeur d'Alene, ID), Josee Bassett (Coeur d'Alene, ID) and Morgan Farrington (Meridian, ID) gave the Mountaineers a three-goal lead at the break and set up goals in the second half. Skindlov set up Farrington for her second in the 55th and Bassett found Abri Cardenas in the 73rd before Farrington registered an assist with Katie Arnold's tally. Cydni Cottrell (Pasco, WA) was not called upon to make a save in the shutout.
9.11 - Northwest 3-1 Lewis & Clark... Stephanie Wilson (Kalispell, MT) set up the third Eagles goal and Jezza Hutto (Sandpoint, ID) scored in the 85th to spoil the shutout.
9.11 - Corban 2-0 Warner Pacific... Katie Hiller (Pocatello, ID) set up the opener.
9.12 - Gonzaga 3-2 (OT) Kansas State... The game was scoreless until the 79th when Sophia Braun found India Jencks for the opener. KSU tied it up in the 85th with Madeline Gotta retaking the lead at the spot two minutes later. The hosts answered with just seconds left on the clock, but another Gotta penalty in the 97th decided the contest.
9.12 - Cal State East Bay 0-1 Central Washington... Olivia Sloan (Spokane, WA) scored the game-winner via Emily Russell (Kennewick, WA) four minutes into the second half. Megan Fox made five saves for the shutout.
9.12 - Biola 0-1 Seattle Pacific... Claire Neder (Spokane, WA) scored the game-winner in the 28th.
9.12 - Hawaii Hilo 1-2 Northwest Nazarene... Maddy Parton (Leavenworth, WA) found Rikki Myers for the opener in the seventh minute and scored the game-winner in the 84th.
9.12 - Humboldt State 1-3 Concordia... Maggie Ames (Spokane, WA) set up the final goal for the Cavaliers.

9.13 - Cal Poly 0-1 Montana... McKenzie Kilpatrick (Boise, ID) scored the deciding tally in the 80th.
9.13 - Eastern Washington 0-1 South Dakota State... The Eags outshot SDSU 18-5 only to allow the winner in the 61st.
9.13 - Idaho 0-1 UC Riverside... UCR's winner came in the 38th minute.
9.13 - Weber State 0-3 Boise State... Morgan Stone gave the Broncos the lead 34 minutes in with Ashleigh Harrison setting up Abree Chatterton (Boise, ID) in the 67th. Jennifer Turnek capped things with five left via Mckenna Kynett. Sydney Smith (Caldwell, ID) registered eight saves for the shutout.
9.13 - Michigan 2-1 Washington State... Trailing by two since the fourth minute, Morgan Weaver finally got the Cougs on the board in the 71st via Elaily Hernandez-Repreza despite outshooting UM 23-12.
9.13 - Arizona 0-4 Santa Clara... Kelsey Turnbow (Spokane, WA) scored the opener in the 41st and then set up Kelcie Hedge (Post Falls, ID) in the 48th. She scored a second in the 65th and Hedge went on to help set up the fourth.
9.13 - Jackson State 0-2 McNeese... Havana Johnson (Coeur d'Alene, ID) set up the second goal.
9.14 - Hawaii Hilo 4-2 Central Washington... Sydney Lowe scored the opening goal 20 minutes in, but the Hawaiian side rattled off four before Olivia Sloan (Spokane, WA) tallied the second.
9.14 - Mary 1-0 MSU Billings
9.14 - Cal State East Bay 2-6 Northwest Nazarene... Makayla Roggow opened the scoring eight minutes in with Rikki Myers adding the second via Maddy Parton (Leavenworth, WA) in the 22nd. Ashley Parton (Leavenworth, WA) then got on the board in the 38th before Myers netted a second in the 45th via Carolyn Moravec (Spokane, WA). After CSEB tallied in the second half Myers added two more with back-to-back goals in the 74th and 80th via Maddy Parton and Magda Wronski, who had her second helper of the day. Myers' fourth marked the first time in NNU and GNAC women's soccer history that a player tallied four goals, surpassing the 60 hat-tricks on the record book.
9.14 - Black Hills State 0-1 Carroll... Katie Martin (Clancy, MT) and Charly Clements combined in the 29th minute to set up Makayla Welch (Boise, ID) for what held as the winner. Sydney Green made three saves for the clean sheet.

9.14 - Wheeling 0-10 Mercyhurst... Taryn Baxter (Spokane, WA) tallied a goal and assist.

9.15 - Eastern Washington 2-1 South Dakota... Brooke Dunbar evened things up late in the 84th and then Saige Lyons found Brooke Flores for the overtime winner in the 103rd.

9.15 - Wyoming 1-1 Montana... Caitlin Rogers found Kendall Furrow in the 49th for the lead, but Wyoming converted a penalty with seconds remaining.
9.15 - Portland State 0-2 Boise State... Aubree Chatterton (Boise, ID) scored the opener in the 65th via Kristina Serres and Raimee Sherle (Meridian, ID) added some insurance in the 82nd, ending a string of three games without a point.
9.15 - Gonzaga 2-1 Nebraska... After conceding a penalty in the 21st India Jencks tied things up for the Zags in the 29th. Five minutes later Sophia Viviano put away a rebound for what held as the winner.
9.15 - Seattle 3-2 (OT) Portland... Kelsey Crosby (Spokane, WA) scored the game-winner in the first minute of overtime.
9.15 - Loyola Marymount 1-2 Washington State... Elyse Bennett and Mykiaa Minniss combined to set up Morgan Weaver in the third minute and Bennett notched the winner via Hanna Goff in the 21st.

9.06 - Carroll 2-1 Whitworth... Nick Lowrimore set up Jeronimo Huerta three minutes into the contest for the Blues and found Rory Bloy for the second in the 37th. Jaime Rodriguez finished a ball from Azzam Azzam in the 51st but the hosts were unable to find the equalizer.   PHOTOS [+] 

 

 

9.07 - Carroll 0-3 Whitman... Oscar Harding found Sam Johnson to put the Blues in front in the 32nd. Erik Nielsen would double the advantage in the 75th before Harding set up another a minute later, this time connecting with Jordan Furukawa. 9.04 - Eastern Oregon 3-3 The Master's... Joaquin Bermejillo set up Mike Dias for an initial equalizer in the 40th and Dias combined with Patrick Larsen in the 77th to find Alexander Zuluaga for another equalizer. A Bermejillo shot off the bar in the 84th was put away by Micah Hill to tie the game once more in the draw.
9.05 - Cal St San Bernardino 1-0 MSU Billings... Jessy Martin made five saves, but late goal decided the contest.

9.05 - Regis 2-2 Saint Martin's... Jose Marquez (Sunnyside, WA) and Sebastian Navarro (Yakima, WA) each scored equalizers for SMU.

Joaquin Bermejillo set up Carlos Solorio just two minutes into the match for the opener and Mike Dias scored via Calvin Mitchell in the seventh for a lead against the 11th ranked side. The defense kept them at bay to the point that Max Rose made just one save before being relieved in the 82nd minute.

9.14 - Colorado Mesa 3-1 Northwest Nazarene... Danny Cuevas (Caldwell, ID) spoiled the shutout via Lorenzo Valentini in the 79th.

9.15 - Pacific Lutheran 4-0 Chapman... Jackson Moore (Spokane, WA) scored twice in the second half to put the game away.
9.15 - George Fox 1-0 Cal Lutheran... Jackson Keller (Helena, MT) scored the overtime game-winner in the 98th.
9.15 - Walla Walla 0-5 Linfield... Gerardo Perez (Kuna, ID) set up the opening goal.
