In a marquee matchup of unbeaten sides, Freeman and Deer Park were locked up in a tight, slow-paced contest Thursday on the thick wet pitch up north that saw the host Lady Stags prevail 1-0 to take command of the NEA.
Meanwhile, in the GNL Thursday was a day of comeback performances as West Valley rallied from two down to win in overtime and Clarkston bounced back from allowing the opener at home.
Friday's GSL contests saw a handful of close contests as Mead snatched a shootout victory against University, North Central topped Lewis & Clark in overtime and Mt Spokane nabbed a narrow 1-0 win against Shadle on a late goal.

University 1-2 (SO) Mead... Margo Schoesler put the Panthers on the board via Olivia DeShazo 29 minutes into the contest and they kept the advantage until the late stages when parried out for a corner led to the equalizer for the Titans. The ball came into the near post and banged around in a scrum of a couple players before being knocked home by defender Peyton Bastine with four minutes left. In overtime a lofted diagonal University shot from outside the box nearly gave them the win, but dropped onto the upper corner of the goal and was cleared away. In the shootout Mead would grab the lead in the second round on a Mercedes Cullen save, which proved key as both sides missed in the following round en route to a 4-2 Panther tiebreaker victory.
