While Columbia Basin and Spokane were busy sweeping the visiting opposition Saturday the Yakima Valley ladies took down another typically tough opponent on the road again Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 victory at North Idaho College in advance of another big pair of games next week against fellow 2-0 sides Columbia Basin and Walla Walla.
On the men's side of the board it was another surprising draw for Walla Walla as the Warriors played to a stalemate against Blue Mountain after having played to a draw midweek against Treasure Valley.
W - Blue Mountain 0-11 Walla Walla... The blowout started with two goals from Taylen Wohl (Clarkston, WA) in the 11th and 23rd. She would add a third late. Caitlin Crist (Twin Falls, ID) would score twice as six other players would also add goals. Eileen Reyna would have a goal and two assists and Aubree Skone (Warden, WA) a goal and assist. Josey Gunter (MaGammon, ID) only needed to make two saves.
W - Treasure Valley 0-5 Columbia Basin... Dani Chang found Megan Haugen (Richland, WA) for the opener in the fourth minute for the Hawks with Hannah Johnson (Prosser, WA) tallying in the 17th and setting up Cassidie Andrews in the 29th for a three goal cushion at the intermission. Andrews added another in the 85th and Bailey Whitney (Warden, WA) capped things off in the final minute as RiaJo Schwartz (Wapato, WA) finished off a four-save shutout.
W - Yakima Valley 3-1 North Idaho... Sessi Allott opened things up in the fifth minute and Corynn Vigil (Spokane, WA) blew things open with back-to-back goals in the 24th and 30th minutes with Ciel McDonald setting up the first. Maya Lewis tallied late for the Cardinals, but they were unable to find anything more in the final nine minutes.
W - Wenatchee Valley 0-3 Spokane... After a scoreless first half Spokane's control of play finally netted the lead when Morgan Skone (Moses Lake, WA) connected with Megan Robertson (Spokane, WA) in the 57th. Kalle Crouch (Spokane, WA) converted a penalty in the 77th and Frankie Schade (Spokane, WA) found herself behind the defense for the final tally in the 82nd. M - Blue Mountain 1-1 Walla Walla... With their only shot on goal Andres Acuna put the visitors in front 11 minutes into the contest via Jonathan Reynoso. Despite outshooting the Timberwolves 12-6 in the contest, the Warriors had to settle for a draw courtesy of Quincy Castillo's (Boardman, OR) tally in the 56th.
M - Treasure Valley 0-3 Columbia Basin... Francisco Lagunas (Sunnyside, WA) scored in the opening minute and nine minutes later Juan Mendoza (Yakima, WA) hit Jhonny Nyabenda (Pasco, WA) to double the lead. Isaac Gutierrez (Touchet, WA) capped the contest via Kevin Meraz-Rodriguez (Pasco, WA) in the final minute and Danny Puga (Pasco, WA) would finish with three saves for the shutout.
M - Wenatchee Valley 2-4 Spokane... A handball in the box allowed Spokane to break through for the opener as David Uribe (Pasco, WA) calmly slipped the shot home in the 29th. Three minutes later Christian Bahena doubled matters, and he would later find Juan Tapia at the hour mark to push the lead to three. Luis Navarette (Wenatchee, WA) put the Knights on the board just over a minute later, but Tapia quickly found Felix Nava four minutes later to restore the margin at three. Daniel Reyes (Wenatchee, WA) would force a turnover deep to add another late tally for the Knights in the 85th. PHOTOS [+]
Around the NWAC: Colin Hauser (Boise, ID) made six saves in a scoreless draw against Peninsula... Skagit Valley rallied for a 3-1 win against Shoreline with Edgar Ramirez (Yakima, WA) setting up two goals and Jorge Ramirez (Yakima, WA) and Diego Gomez (Sunnyside, WA) tallying.
