INW Collegiate Saturday Night Recap: Whitworth sweeps, MSU-Billings stings opponents

While the majority of Division I schools were idle for the day, the lower divisions of the collegiate ranks saw plenty of action, including a full slate in the DIII Northwest Conference, which saw Whitworth claim a pair of 1-0 victories at George Fox. Meanwhile, in DII action MSU-Billings did well on the day with the women getting yet another win and the men earning a draw against second-ranked Seattle Pacific.

MEN
#2 Seattle Pacific 1 :: 1 MSU-Billings
Sam Butterworth gave the Yellowjackets the lead in the 77th minute and SPU's Kyle Peterman (Boise, ID) tallied the equalizer in the 83rd, heading in a Danny Olivas corner.
Saint Martin’s 0 :: 3 Northwest Nazarene
Leading on a Dylan Coffee goal set up by Chris Voth (Boise, ID) in the 27th, John DiLulo (Boise, ID) added a goal and an assist in the second half to push the Crusaders to the victory. Jaime Torres got eh first in the 62nd when he put away the rebound of DiLulo’s shot off the crossbar. DiLulo finished from 15 yards in the 78th off a Wes Caldwell cross. – MORE 
Western Washington 1 :: 3 Sioux Falls
Simon Fraser 3 :: 2 Mary

Simon Fraser sits atop the conference with three wins in four games while Seattle Pacific and Northwest Nazarene are close behind with unbeaten 2-0-2 records. The University of Mary also has two wins.

WOMEN
MSU-Billings 1 :: 0 Northwest Nazarene
The lady Yellowjackets picked up a road win at Northwest Nazarene with Jaucelyn Richter (Billings, MT) scoring the lone goal in the 68th minute. Aiko Johnson made four saves for the shutout. – MORE  
Central Washington 1 :: 1 Seattle Pacific
Megan Lindsay (Spokane, WA) headed in a Laura Moore cross 31 minutes into the contest to give SPU the advantage, but Central Washington evened terms back up in the 74th when Lauren Duty found Carson McKole for a 28 yard strike. – MORE

The Loggers got an early goal 11 minutes in when Lauren Swanson (Eagle, ID) scored off a rebound from a corner kick.

NCU rallied and survived a late penalty to earn a point after giving up an own goal in the first half and allowing Michael Leptich (Coeur d’Alene, ID) to find Tyler Hagen to double the lead early in the second half. Chris Longi and Travis Brown evened the game up with second half strikes to force overtime where Hagen had a chance to win it in the final minute only to see Erik Carrazko make the save. - MORE

Concordia and Evergreen are still perfect atop the table after four games with Northwest University close behind at  3-1-0.

Westminster 3 :: OT :: 2 Evergreen
Evergreen SC took the initial lead on a goal and an assist from Bianca Flores (Yakima, WA) in the first half hour, but Westminster rallied with a hat-trick from Justine Jones (Boise, ID), who scored two in the final seven minutes and the final one, set up by Margo Hickman (Boise, ID) in the 105th minute of overtime for a 3-2 win. - MORE

Haley Jensen (Clancy, MT) delivered a cross put away by Christa Saur (Boise, ID) just a little over two minutes into the contest, but Eastern Oregon stood firm and and took the match nearly another hour before Kristyn Bohlander (Kennewick, WA) and Laura Maddock combined on a corner to find Macie Netz (Great Falls, MT) for the second strike in the 59th.
