Montana finishes best at Boise State's Bronco Invitational

The University of Montana made it a sweep of Idaho sides at the Bronco Invitational in Boise, posting a 3-2 overtime victory against the University of Idaho Sunday in which the Grizzlies equalized twice after falling behind. In the other half of the Bronco Invitational, the Idaho State Bengals were unable to get a sweep of their two state rivals, falling 3-2 in overtime to the hosts.

The match was turned upside down after a first half stalemate with four tallies in the second half. Meli Cortez gave the Vandals the lead five minutes into the half, putting away a loose ball from 12 yards. Eight minutes later Lauren McCreath (Boise, ID) stunned the crowd with a shot from 40 yards that found its way through a crowd and past Liz Boyden (Spokane, WA). Chelsea Small converted a penalty just before the hour mark for Idaho. The second equalizer came on corner with Erin Craig (Great Falls, MT) knocking it in from the center of the box. With three minutes remaining a Mary Makris (Emigrant, MT) sent in a corner that Lauren Costa (Missoula, MT) gathered and sent on goal only to be stopped by a defender on the line. The rebound, though, came out Mackenzie Akins, who set up the first strike, for an easy six-yard finish. Shannon Lindsay (Spokane, WA) got her first career start in the match. - MORE:  UI  -  UM

Idaho State 2 :: OT :: 3 Boise State
The Broncos took the initial lead through a 35-yard Shannon Schueren free kick that deflected in past Maria Dela Cruz in the 24th minute. Trailing still in the second half, Anna Pingree (Boise, ID) finally got Idaho State on the board with the equalizer in the 58th minute, putting away a rebound from 10 yards out. She gave the Bengals the advantage when she gather a clearance in the 69th minute and fired it past Maddy McDevitt from 25 yards out. The lead, though would not hold long with Schueren firing in a corner five minutes later that found the head of Katy Oehring for the equalizer that sent the match to overtime where Schueren converted a penalty in the 99th minute. - MORE:  ISU  -  BSU
