HS Daily - 3.17.17: Rogers tops North Central

It was a rather quiet day for a Thursday, but there were a few interesting results in a series of non-league affairs.

Perhaps tops of the list was a narrow 1-0 victory for Rogers in a preseason showdown with fellow 3A GSL side North Central. Rogers had the better of the attack throughout the game and finally broke through with just three minutes remaining with a goal from Omar Muse. The Pirates continue to improve each season and could be a handful throughout the 2017 campaign - and given other results thus far in preseason matches - could perhaps contend within the 3A if they can stay consistent.

In another classification upset, the Big Nine's West Valley (4A) dropped a 1-0 affair to East Valley of the 2A CWAC. Meanwhile, Lewis & Clark nabbed a shootout win against MCC foe Walla Walla in a dramatic affair in which they went to halftime even after a three-goal exchange in the final five minutes and then went scoreless through the second period. They won the shootout itself 5-3.

The two other matches on the docket were one-sided affairs as Colville smashed Deer Park 10-0 and 4A power Central Valley drubbed 2A Cheney 9-0.
