INW Best XI - Week 3: Hamer, McDevitt lead Bulldogs & Broncos to big results

Each week INWsoccernews will release lists of the week’s best performances for men’s and women’s soccer in the region, recognizing players at schools in the region or those from the area that play elsewhere in the nation.

BEST OF THE INLAND NORTHWEST XI - MEN

Paul Sliwa
[Position – Player (INW Hometown) – School]

G - Ryan Caballero - Gonzaga :: Registered a pair of saves in the Bulldogs' 2-0 win over nationally-ranked UC-Santa Barbara and another four stops two days later in a 1-0 overtime win at Cal Poly. (Sunnyvale, CA)

G - Scott Gross (Cheney, WA) - Concordia :: Only needed one save in a shutout performance, but recorded an assist when he helped set up the opening goal.

D - Paul Sliwa - Great Falls :: Scored the second goal in both games, getting his head to a pair of corners and was a constant threat on the offensive end while leading a defensive unit that allowed just one goal in two games. (Wasilla, AK)

Nick Hamer
D - Juan Valderrama - Great Falls :: Set up the two first half goals before the Argos pulled away for a 7-1 win against Northwest Christian, adding one more helper in the second half. He also delivered the corner Paul Sliwa finished for the second goal in the 2-0 win against College of Idaho. (Bogota, Colombia)

INW MEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK :: M - Nick Hamer (Spokane, WA) - Gonzaga University :: Tallied an assist in both wins in California, setting up the second in a 2-0 win over nationally-ranked (15/16) UC-Santa Barbara and finding Lars Ludwigs for the 1-0 overtime winner at Cal Poly, which was coming off a 3-0 historic win over sixth-ranked UCLA three days prior.

M - Devin Leon - CC Spokane :: Scored twice in a 3-3 draw at home against Clark, netting the first with a fantastic bicycle-kick goal from the edge of the area. (Phelan, CA)

M - Chris Jermy - Rocky Mountain :: Set up two of Gore's goals in the 5-3 win the first day against College of Idaho and tallied once himself on the second day in a 6-0 win against Northwest Christian at the Red Lion Challenge.  (Glasgow, Scotland)

Oliver Gore
M - Sam Selisch - Whitworth University :: Scored twice to put the Pirates in front on two occasions in a 2-2 draw on the road against Texas-Tyler. (Port Townsend, WA)

F - Jesse Esquivel (Yakima, WA) - Columbia Basin College :: Scored a late consolation goal in a 4-2 loss at Peninsula and followed it up with three more the next day in a 4-0 road win over Olympic.

F - Oliver Gore - Rocky Mountain :: Scored all five goals in a 5-3 victory over College of Idaho in first game of Red Lion Challenge and then added two goals and two assists. (Stafford, England)

F - Mario Guizar (Kennewick, WA) - Walla Walla CC :: Scored three goals in a 5-0 road victory against Tacoma.

BEST OF THE INLAND NORTHWEST XI - WOMEN

Maddy McDevitt
G - Kaylee Kimmet (Billings, MT) - MSU-Billings :: Made seven saves in her first collegiate start as they played to a scoreless draw on the road versus Dixie State.

INW WOMEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK :: G - Maddy McDevitt - Boise State :: Posted a pair of shutout performances, posting four saves in a surprise scoreless draw against Washington State and three more stops in another 0-0 draw the next day against Weber State. (Edmonds, WA)

D - Allyson Stainbrook - Idaho State :: Scored both goals in a 4-2 loss to Utah Valley in which they trailed by two and her tallies put the Bengals within one each time. She also scored her third of the week in a 3-2 loss to Utah State. (South Jordan, UT)

M - Therese Hagbyhn - Rocky Mountain :: Was a constant threat in the 2-1 overtime win against College of Idaho on the first day of the Red Lion Challenge and then set up all three goals in the 3-2 win over Northwest University the next day. (Malmo, Sweden)

Alex Harvey
M - Alex Harvey (Billings, MT) - Rocky Mountain :: Scored both goals in a 2-1 overtime victory against College of Idaho

M - Erin Huisingh (Pasco, WA) - Concordia :: Set up a pair of goals in a 6-0 victory against visiting Whitworth.

M - Kelsey Roehner - Whitman :: Set up both goals as Whitman rallied to a 2-1 road victory against University of the Redlands. (Bellingham, WA)

F - Haley Jensen (Clancy, MT) - Carroll College :: Was a threat in Carroll's surprising 1-0 loss to Northwest University in the first day of the Red Lion Challenge, and helped lead the Saints to a 3-1 win the second day in the nightcap, scoring on a fantastic long-range effort.

F - Clara Merlino - Whitman :: Scored both goals as Whitman rallied to a 2-1 road victory against University of the Redlands. (Seattle, WA)

F - Olivia Rodgers (East Wenatchee, WA) - Walla Walla CC :: Scored three goals in a big 8-0 road victory against Tacoma.

F - Delaney Romero (Yakima, WA) - Walla Walla CC :: Scored three goals in a big 8-0 road victory against Tacoma.
