NWAC East Tonight 10.4.17: Warriors Sweep WVC, Spokane Unbeaten at North Idaho

The unbeaten Walla Walla Warriors posted another big win to move to 8-0-0 in the women's table while the men pulled even on points with Columbia Basin with their victory against the Wenatchee Valley Knights. Spokane, meanwhile, saw the ladies roll to a big win against the Cardinals while the defense led the men in a scoreless draw in which they did not allow NIC a single shot.

Spokane 4-1 North Idaho
Molly Thies (Dryden, WA) put the Bigfoot on the board in the 12th minute of the contest and Sydney Clements (Spokane, WA) doubled the advantage with seconds remaining in the half. Cheris Brown (Spokane, WA) put the match out of reach with a pair of second half goals, tallying just seven seconds in and again in the 71st. Zoe Lee (Ammon, ID) spoiled Michelle Czarapata's shutout bid with a goal in the 82nd.

Yakima Valley 1-1 Columbia Basin
Kaylee Martinez (Othello, WA) scored five minutes into the match on a ball from Elena Mendoza (Othello, WA) to give the Hawks the lead. The Yaks answered through Courtney Abrams (Yakima, WA) in the 31st and the match remained deadlocked from there in a tight contest that finished with just 11 shots combined for the two sides.

Wenatchee Valley 1-4 Walla Walla
Four different players scored for the Warriors in a match that went to the break even. Chelsea Marozik (Richland, WA) set up Madison Brownell (Selah, WA) in the 33rd to put the hosts in front with Gabby Flores (Quincy, WA) providing an answer in the 39th. Jessica Garcia (Eltopia, WA) put Walla Walla back in front before Marozik set up Hannah Thompson (Richland, WA) in the 70th and Jaz Lemos (Richland, WA) in the 82nd.

INW Players Elsewhere:  Madelene Parton (Leavenworth, WA) scored the fifth goal for Peninsula in an 8-0 win against Skagit Valley.

Micah Ching converted a penalty a minute before the intermission to give the visitors the lead. The second half, though, belonged to the Warriors. Missael Lopez (Tieton, WA) tied things up in the 57th and converted a penalty in the 65th to put the hosts in front. Alex Sotelo (Kennewick, WA) doubled the advantage in the 76th and set up Freddy Rodriguez (Hermiston, OR) in the 81st to push the lead to three. Ching also capped the scoring for the game, tallying the final goal in the 86th.

Spokane 0-0 North Idaho
The two rivals battled to a scoreless draw with Tanner Sayer (Nampa, ID) and Luis Hernandez (Nampa, ID) combining for the shutout for the Cardinals. Sasquatch keeper Caleb Garbuio did not need to make a save as the defense did not allow a single shot in the match.

INW Players Elsewhere:  Paul Cuevas (Yakima, WA) scored the go-ahead goal for Skagit Valley in a 1-1 draw against Peninsula... Alain Murhula (Boise, ID) scored the final goal for Whatcom in a 3-0 victory against Everett.
