Big Sky Plus - 11.01.17 DI Round-Up: Boise State Advances to Mountain West Semis

Boise State advanced to the semifinals of the Mountain West Tournament with another big performance from Raimee Sherle on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the opening round of the Big Sky Tournament saw Northern Colorado and Portland State advance to face Montana and Eastern Washington in the semifinals Friday.

The Bears scored six minutes before the break and seven minutes after with Olivia Seddon setting up Taylor Bray for the opening and tallying herself for the insurance. Madeline Burdick made five saves for the shutout.

5-Northern Arizona 0-1 4-Portland State
In a tight contest that saw only six of the 15 shots go on frame, the deciding goal came in the 70th minute when Rilee Castilla (Kennewick, WA) set up Regan Russell. Abbie Faingold made three stops for the shutout.

Raimee Sherle (Meridian, ID) continues to shine. She tallied both goals in the second half to lead the Broncos to the victory against Air Force, who they tied 1-1 during the regular season. Aubree Chatterton (Boise, ID) set up the first in the 52nd minute and Jessie Vogel connected with her for the second in the 69th. Janelle Flores posted seven saves for the clean sheet, claiming sole possession of the program's career shutout record. The result extended their unbeaten run to eight games, the longest in program history, and was their first tournament win since 2013

Others in Postseason: Havanah Johnson (Coeur d'Alene, ID) was in the Southland Conference tournament with third-seeded McNeese State, but the Cowgirls were knocked out in via a shootout (5-3) after a scoreless draw in a first round upset to sixth-seed Abilene Christian.  Camyrn Wendlandt (Coeur d'Alene, ID) started for Baylor in the Big 12 Tournament and helped lead the Bears to a 2-1 overtime upset win over the 14th-ranked Texas Longhorns, who they fell 1-0 in overtime to on the road during the season. It sets up a semifinal meeting with Oklahoma State. They fell on the road to the Cowgirls 1-0 in overtime in their previous meeting.  [see schedules/results below]
