INW Best XI - Week 11: Michkiosky, Rodriguez Lead Sides to Playoff Upset Wins

Midfielder Katie Michkiosky helped lead six-seed Northwest University to the championship game of the Cascade Conference tournament and a berth in the NAIA tournament, scoring two goals along the way. Walla Walla CC, the third seed out of the NWAC East topped a pair of higher seeds to reach the Final Four, scoring key goals in both matches for the Warriors.

WOMEN

G - Cydni Cottrell (Pasco, WA) - Eastern Oregon :: Three shutouts in the Cascade Conference Tournament to add the postseason title to the regular season championship. She made seven total saves in the three games, including five in the final.

M - Amidee Colleknon (Bend, OR) - Linfield :: Tallied two goals off the bench to erase a two-goal deficit in a 3-2 overtime win at Whitman.

M - Kelcie Hedge (Post Falls, ID) - Santa Clara :: Goal and assist in a 3-0 victory against San Diego.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK :: M - Katie Michkiosky (Wenatchee, WA) - Northwest University :: Scored the game-winner and insurance goals in the 3-1 Cascade Conference semifinal win against Corban and give the Eagles an NAIA tournament berth.

M - Michelle Whan - Whitworth :: Scored twice in a 3-2 victory against Linfield in her final game for the Pirates. (Reno, NV)

M - Kelly Wucherer - Whitworth :: Tallied a goal and assist for the Pirates in a 3-2 win against Linfield. (Woodinville, WA)

F - Cheris Brown (Spokane, WA) - CC Spokane :: Tallied two goals and an assist in a 5-1 win against Skagit Valley in the opening round of the NWAC playoffs.

F - Sydney Clements (Spokane, WA) - CC Spokane :: Scored twice in a 5-1 win against Skagit Valley in the opening round of the NWAC playoffs.

F - Morgan Farrington (Meridian, ID) - Eastern Oregon :: The freshman scored two of the team's five goals in three shutout victories to win the Cascade Conference Tournament.

F - Maria Sanchez (American Falls, ID) - Santa Clara :: Goal and two assists in a 4-3 victory against BYU.

F - Kelsey Turnbow (Spokane, WA) - Santa Clara :: Goal and assist in a 3-0 victory against San Diego.


MEN

G - Peter Byrne (Missoula, MT) - Fort Lewis :: Made nine saves in an RMAC opening round 3-0 win against Regis.

G - Cole Catlin (Billings, MT) - Rocky Mountain :: Registered a pair of shutouts for the Bears in a 4-0 opening round Cascade Conference Tournament win against Evergreen and a semifinal scoreless draw against Corban, which saw them eliminated in a shootout.

G - Jorge Llerenas (Pasco, WA) - Walla Walla CC :: Made nine saves in a 1-0 shutout upset win at Peninsula in the opening round of the NWAC playoffs

D - Blake Riley (Spokane, WA) - CC Spokane :: Played the full match in defense for the Bigfoot, who limited Tacoma to just two shots in a 2-1 overtime victory in the NWAC quarterfinals.

M - JD Hauenstein (Spokane, WA) - MSU-Billings :: Down four, he tallied a goal and assist as the Yellowjackets clawed back within one before falling 5-3 at Saint Martin's.

M - Enrique Leal (Hermiston, OR) - Walla Walla CC :: Scored the go-ahead goal in a 2-2 draw at Portland in the quarterfinals as the Warriors advanced via a shootout.

M - Sky Swenson - Rocky Mountain :: The freshman tallied the opening two goals and set up the fourth in a 4-0 opening round Cascade Conference Tournament win against Evergreen. (Berlin, Germany)

F - Israel Gonzalez (Grandview, WA) - Columbia Basin :: Scored the opening goal in a 2-1 opening round win against Everett and the opening goal in a 1-1 draw (shootout loss) at Highline in the NWAC quarterfinals.

F - Rafael Junqueira - Northwest Nazarene :: Scored a pair of game-winning goals in 2-1 victories against Concordia and Saint Martin's. (Sao Paulo, Brazil)

F - Jake Levine (Spokane, WA) - Northwest Nazarene :: Tallied a goal and assist for the Nighthawks in a 2-1 victory at Saint Martin's in their season finale.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK :: F - Freddy Rodriguez (Hermiston, OR) - Walla Walla CC :: Scored the game-winner in a 1-0 upset win at Peninsula in the opening round and the equalizer in a 2-2 draw at Portland in the NWAC quarterfinals as the Warriors advanced via a shootout.
