INW College Recap - Week 6: NWAACC East outdoes North in final week of inter-divisional play

In the final weekend of competition between the East and North Divisions of the NWAACC, the East came out slightly on top as both the men and women's teams each finished with a 3-2-4 record against the North. Walla Walla had the best overall performance with a 3-0-1 record on the week.

NWAACC EAST - MEN

Wednesday, September 25 

North Idaho College 0 :: 1 Spokane 
The lone strike came on a Devin Leon free kick in the 53rd minute that dropped into the area and was put away by Travis Hill. VIDEO

Columbia Basin 1 :: 2 Everett 
Down by two, the Hawks finally found the back of the net in the rally attempt in the 86th minute via Guillermo Silva (Yakima, WA).

Walla Walla 3 :: 0 Skagit Valley 
It took a half for the Warriors to get on the board through Jhony Mendoza (Yakima, WA) in the 49th and then Mario Guizar (Kennewick, WA) took over, scoring in the 63rd and setting Michael Mollay (Boise, ID) in the 75th as Ulisses Faurrieta recorded the shutout with six saves.

Treasure Valley 0 :: 0 Whatcom 
Javier Amaral (Ontario, OR) made five saves for the shutout.

Spokane 1 :: 2 Edmonds 
The Bigfoot opened up the scoring on the road with Alex Opland (Rathdrum, ID) finding Brian Clark two minutes into the second half, but the hosts rallied for the victory.

Columbia Basin 2 :: 2 Whatcom 
Quick replies were the story of the day with the Hawks scoring a minute after falling behind with a goal from Guillermo Silva (Yakima, WA) drawing things even in the 25th on a ball from Jesse Esquivel (Yakima, WA). Erik Ruiz put them in front in the 41st only to see Whatcom answering a minute later.

Spokane 2 :: 1 Skagit Valley 
The Sasquatch rebounded to win the second of the road trip, grabbing the lead in the 33rd with Devin Leon setting up Jared Fretheim (Spokane, WA). Alex Opland (Rathdrum, ID) doubled the lead just before the hour mark on a ball from Chris Donich (Spokane, WA).

Treasure Valley 1 :: 0 Everett 
Javier Amaral (Ontario, OR) recorded his second shutout of the week, posting six saves with Uriel Anguiano (Burley, ID) setting up Mwungura Muyumbe (Boise, ID) for the deciding tally.

Walla Walla 2 :: 2 Edmonds 
The Warriors scored on both sides of the intermission with Jhony Mendoza (Yakima, WA) finding Cesar Rodriguez (Yakima, WA) in the 41st and Mario Guizar (Kennewick, WA) tallying in the 46th, but the hosts rallied for the draw.

Wenatchee Valley 1 :: 1 Shoreline
The Knights scored 10 minutes in with Williams Pineda (Yakima, WA) setting up Jonathan Molina, but Shoreline broke through just before the break for the equalizer, spoiling Jose Garcia's 10-save outing from being a shutout.

Down by two, Taylor Schutzenhofer (Kennewick, WA) put the Hawks on the board.

Walla Walla 6 :: 0 Skagit Valley 
Six different scorers netted the goals with Julie Belden, Olivia Rodgers (East Wenatchee), Shauntice Perrigo, Lexi Miller (Pasco, WA), Delaney Romero (Yakima, WA) and Brigit Lyons (Walla Walla, WA) providing three in each half. Aiko Johnson needed just one save for the shutout.

Spokane 0 :: 0 Edmonds 
Emily Moscrip (Lewiston, ID) made four saves as the Bigfoot became the first team Edmonds dropped points against this season.

Yakima Valley 1 :: 6 Shoreline 
Yzarely Castro (Yakima, WA) scored on a ball from Emma Avalos (Yakima, WA) 13 minutes in but the Yaks were already trailing by two at that point and gave up three more before the break.

Columbia Basin 0 :: 0 Whatcom 
Dakota Wickard (Pullman, WA) made eight stops in goal for the shutout.

Spokane 3 :: 0 Skagit Valley 
Rashelle Fisher scored on the half-hour mark to put the Bigfoot in front and Tasha Luu (Colville, WA) doubled it in the 61st. Fisher added a second with 10 minutes left on a ball from Rainey Pelzel as the Sasquatch dominated, allowing Samantha Burmester to register the shutout with just one save.

Walla Walla 6 :: 0 Edmonds
This time out, Delaney Romero (Yakima, WA) provided all three goals in the first half with Marais Hicks (Pocatello, ID) setting up the opener 12 minutes in. Mackena Carkner, Oryian Matheny and Olivia Rodgers (East Wenatchee) added to the tally in the second half and Aiko Johnson made three saves as the Warriors were the first to hand Edmonds a loss.

Wenatchee Valley 1 :: 4 Shoreline 
London Cleverly (Moses Lake, WA) got a consolation tally in the 69th minute to cap the scoring in the game.

NORTH IDAHO COLLEGE  - WOMEN

The Cardinals finished their trip with a split falling 1-0 to Corban and rebounding to defeat Clark College 1-0 in two extremely wet outings. The Warriors scored nine minutes in Saturday and made it stand for the win. The next day Adrianna Woods (Spokane, WA) gave the Cardinals the win 10 minutes into the second half, putting away a rebound in which a Kellsi Parson (Lewiston, ID) free kick had been headed on goal by Keilin Farrand and blocked by a defender.
