HS UPDATE 9.21.18: Gonzaga Prep Rallies for Road Win vs LC in GSL Opener

The Greater Spokane League opened with a thriller Wednesday as Gonzaga Prep and Lewis & Clark battled in a contest decided in overtime with a golden goal from Kyah Le. In a battle of the usual 3A contenders Mt Spokane prevailed 2-0 against North Central, and out in the valley both Central Valley and University found themselves trailing early but rallied to big victories.

There were a couple big games on Thursday as well with the valley rivals squaring off in the GNL and another contender showdown in the NEA. East Valley pulled away in the second half of a back-and-forth affair for a 6-3 win over West Valley and Deer Park posted a 2-1 road win at Freeman to remain atop the league as the lone unbeaten.

## Greater Spokane League ##

Gonzaga Prep 3-2 (OT) Lewis & Clark :: In an early showdown of GSL contenders the Bullpups held the better of play at Hart Field only to find themselves trailing twice before taking the win in overtime. Ella Hoefer scored against the run of play on a counter in the 34th minute, and the Tigers held the advantage until a corner from Chelsea Le was put away by Alaina O'Connell with eight minutes left in the match. The joy was short-lived for the Bullpups though as Anna Ackermann put LC back in front two minutes later. A handball on a shot fired at goal amidst a scrum in the box with two minutes left allowed Le to send the contest to overtime where her sister Kyah Le made a great play, driving along the edge of the box and releasing a shot inside the right post for the golden goal four minutes in.
