NWAC East Tonight 9.29.18: Chukars Sweep Blue Mountain for First Wins


The battle at the bottom saw Treasure Valley travel to Blue Mountain Saturday and pick up their first victories of the season. In other results Yakima Valley moved up to second as they closed out the first half of their schedule and Walla Walla picked up four points at Columbia Basin. The Warrior ladies earned a win to separate the top four further from CBC while the draw in the men's match keeps the competition tight at the top with two points separating the top four.

WOMEN


Treasure Valley 2-1 Blue Mountain :: The Chukars took the battle at the bottom, earning their first victory of the season on a pair of goals in the first half. Emily Bluemel tallied in the 22nd with Sydney Chandler scoring what proved to be the winner a minute before intermission. Kiana Corpuz scored for the hosts in the 64th but they were unable to find an equalizer.


Walla Walla 3-0 Columbia Basin :: After a scoreless first half the Warriors struck twice early in the second half to grab the road win, handing the Hawks their second loss. Madison Brownell tallied three minutes in via Haley Wammock and got a second from Sally Culig five minutes later. Wammock would put the game out of reach int eh 82nd. Danielle Dowd made three saves for the clean sheet.


Yakima Valley 3-0 Wenatchee Valley :: With the host Knights looking to stay in reach of the leaders the match went well over an hour before the Yaks broke through with the opener. Sessi Allott did the honors via Kirsten Stickney in the 65th, ripping a shot from the top of the box. Harley Hendry found Courtney Handlen on a give-and-go in the 73rd and Addie Doyle finished things off on the 83rd with a great volley off a corner from Brittney Little. Ally Glebe only needed to make one save for YVC as Wenatchee only had three shots in the game.

MEN

Walla Walla 0-0 Columbia Basin :: In a tight affair that saw just nine shots, the two sides battled to the stalemate with Alex Grimaldo making three saves for Walla Walla and Christopher Kirby two for the hosts.


Treasure Valley 4-0 Blue Mountain :: Saul Guardado scored 10 minutes in to give the Chukars the lead and Juan Perez tallied a second in the 23rd. Guardado added back-to-back goals in the 54th and 59th to complete a hat-trick and put the match out of reach. Seve Bokides and Lucio Villa split time in goal for the shutout.
