As play began in the Northeast A League Tuesday last year's top three in the all won decisively in their league openers by a combined 20-2 scoreline. Lake City (ID) 1-2 Gonzaga Prep :: A Grace Batkoff grazed the front of the crossbar four minutes in and Chelsea Le was on the doorstep to put it away for an early lead as the Bullpups controlled the early going of the match against their foes from across the border. Lake City, though, equalized against the run of play when Hannah Clarke made a short run inside from the right about 35 yards from goal and dropped the ball slightly back to Chloe Teets, who launched a 45 yard effort from the left that soared over Eden Elliott and dropped into the back corner of the goal. Le quickly put the Bullpups back in front 10 minutes later with a second goal at the half-hour mark and although both sides had numerous chances in the attack neither could find the back of the net thanks to some nice saves from the keepers and a multitude of defensive blocks in the box and on the line.
