NWAC East Tonight 9.19.18: Spokane Sweeps as NIC, Walla Walla Split

The Spokane ladies moved to 5-0-0 in the division with a comeback win at Columbia Basin, but it was the Bigfoot men with the bigger result as their victory over the previously unbeaten Hawks moved them into the number two spot in the table at 3-1-0. Meanwhile in Walla Walla the Warriors split with North Idaho with the men winning 2-0 after the ladies suffered their worst loss since the end of 2016.

WOMEN

North Idaho 4-0 Walla Walla :: Zoe Lee (Ammon, ID) scored the lone goal of the first half in the 29th minute to give the Cardinals the lead on the road. They ran away with the victory with three more unanswered in the second half with Sydney Moore (Newman Lake, WA) scoring in the 58th before Lee netted a second. Ellory Ferris (Ellensburg, WA) wrapped things up two minutes from time and Kaysha Bailey (Lewiston, ID) finished with five saves in the shutout. It was the first time the Warriors had lost by two or more in division play since their 2016 season finale against Spokane, a 5-1 loss at home.

Spokane 4-2 Columbia Basin :: An own goal gave the Bigfoot an early advantage nine minutes into the match. Megan Wilkinson (Pasco, WA) made it three before the break with back-to-back goals in the 38th and 39th minutes. The Hawks, though, made things interesting with Megan Haugen (Richland, WA) scoring in the 73rd and Kati Letellier in the 79th, but Gaby Kennedy (Spokane, WA), who also set up Wilkinson's pair, struck with just under five minutes left for some insurance.
