INW Best XI - Week 1: Ramos and Clair lead Whitworth, WSU to perfect starts

Each week INWsoccernews will release lists of the week’s best performances for men’s and women’s soccer in the region, recognizing players at schools in the region or those from the area that play elsewhere in the nation.

For games through September 1

BEST OF THE INLAND NORTHWEST XI - MEN

G - Logan Butzier (Eagle, ID) - Westminster :: In three starts, he is a perfect 3-0-0 with only one goal allowed in 270 minutes, recording two shutouts.

D - Nathan Hunt (Meridian, ID) - College of Idaho :: Scored both goals in a 2-1 victory over 23rd ranked Rocky Mountain.

M - Dylan Allen (Helena, MT) - Carroll College :: Scored the program's first-ever goal in their debut, a 4-1 conference loss to at Westminster. Also scored the winning goal in the team's first-ever win, 3-1, at Morningside College

M - Jack Clancy - Rocky Mountain College :: Scored in a 4-0 victory over Doane. Scored the team's lone goal in a 2-1 loss at College of Idaho. Converted a penalty and scored on a corner in a 3-2 loss at Concordia. (Westmeath, Ireland)

M - Mario Zarate (Richland, WA) - CC Spokane :: Tallied a hat-trick versus Shoreline in the opener, notched two assists in a 4-1 win over Edmonds and had an assist in the 2-1 win over Chemeketa.

F - Christopher Bisbo - Univ of Great Falls :: Scored a pair of goals in a 3-0 win over Doane. His header off the crossbar led to the opener by a teammate in 2-0 win over Bethesda and he scored the equalizer in a 2-1 loss to Embry-Riddle. (Silkeborg, Denmark)

F - Isaac Bostrom (Helena, MT) - Carroll College :: Scored the opening goal in their first-ever win, 3-1, at Morningside College and tallied another goal in the 4-1 win at Presentation College.

F - Vincente Flores (Touchet, WA) - Walla Walla CC ::  Scored two goals in 2-2 draw against Highline and another two goals in 3-0 win against Pierce.

F - Timmy Mueller (Post Falls, ID)  - Oregon State :: The freshman striker scored two goals after setting up the opening goal in a 3-1 victory over Evansville.

INW MEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK :: F - Mike Ramos (Spokane, WA) - Whitworth :: Trailing by two, Ramos converted a penalty after being fouled to begin a comeback he finished with seconds remaining for the 3-2 win against Millikin. He provided the assist on the winning goal in a 1-0 upset of 15th ranked host Wheaton and completed the trip with an assist and two goals in another comeback victory, 4-2, against St Thomas.

F - Adam Talley (Newman Lake, WA) - North Idaho College :: Recorded a hat-trick in the team's first game back as members of the NWAC, a 4-0 win over Puget Sound.


BEST OF THE INLAND NORTHWEST XI - WOMEN 

INW WOMEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK :: G - Gurveen Clair - Washington State :: Registered three shutouts to start the season with 15 saves in total over the course of the three games. (Surrey, BC)

G - Kailey Norman - Montana :: Recorded a pair of shutouts and allowed just one goal in the Grizzlies first three games, making 17 saves total as they blanked Air Force 1-0, fell 1-0 to Wyoming and downed Gonzaga 2-0. (Highlands Ranch, CO)

G - Abi Yanke (Boise, ID) - Westminster College :: Posted three shutouts, making five saves in a 1-0 win at Weber State, two in a 1-0 win at SCAD Savannah and leading the team to a 3-0 win at South Carolina-Beaufort.

D - Kelli Lessmeier (Spokane, WA) - Carroll :: Scored the game-winner on 45 yard free kick in 1-0 win at Northwest Nazarene and helped lead team in 4-0-1 start that saw them allow only three goals with two shutouts.

D - Susie White - Washington State :: Helped lead the Cougars to three shutouts and had a goal-line clearance in a scoreless draw against 17th ranked BYU. (Highlands Ranch, CO)

M - Evelina Aberg - Rocky Mountain College :: Scored in a 5-1 win over Doane and then fueled a 3-1 comeback win at Warner Pacific with two goals and an assist on the final tally. (Stockholm, Sweden)

M - Chloe Torres - Montana :: The Grizzlies surprised host Gonzaga with Torres setting up both goals. (Arcadia, CA)

F - Karley Baggerly - Gonzaga :: Scored twice in a 3-0 victory at Fresno State and notched another two goals in the 5-0 win over Idaho. (Canby, OR)

F - Amanda Ellsworth - Idaho State :: She scored twice in the 4-2 win over Minot State, and in 3-2 overtime win against Wyoming had an assist and the game-winner. (Roseville, CA)

F - Sofia Huerta (Boise, ID) - Santa Clara :: She scored both goals in the team's 2-0 victory over UC-Irvine and then tallied the deciding goal in the 1-0 win over Florida International.

F - Alex Rivera (Boise, ID) - Treasure Valley CC :: Scored the opening goal in 2-1 win over Shoreline and scored in a 4-1 win against Tacoma. Capped the week with a hat-trick and assist in a 5-0 win at Clackamas.

Reserves*

M - Paige Gallaway (Spokane, WA) - Eastern Washington :: Scored the final goal in a 3-0 win at CSU-Bakersfield and the last goal with a fantastic individual effort in a 4-0 win at Idaho.

M - Michaela Kueffler (Billings, MT) - Carroll :: Made a great individual play for the equalizer in 1-1 draw versus Lethbridge and scored the game-winner with two minutes left for 2-1 win against Evergreen State.

F - Cassie Black - Eastern Washington :: Scored the lone goal in an unlucky 2-1 overtime loss at Fresno State and notched the opening goal along with an assist in the 3-0 win at CSU-Bakersfield. She added another assist in the 4-0 win at Idaho. (Battleground, WA)

F - Rashelle Fisher - CC Spokane :: Scored final goal in 3-1 win at Shoreline and scored the first two goals in 3-0 win over Whatcom with assist on the third. She finished the week with two goals and an assist in 5-0 win against Chemeketa. (Chehalis, WA)

F - Cassie Geerdts - Gonzaga :: Scored the 2-1 overtime winner at CSU-Bakersfield with seconds remaining to open the season. She set up two goals and tallied the final goal of the game in a 5-0 rout of visiting Idaho. (Parker, CO)

F - Gabi Heflin (Billings, MT) - Rocky Mountain College :: Scored in a 5-1 win over Doane, scored both goals in a 2-1 win over University of Mary and finished the week with final goal in 3-1 win at Warner Pacific.

F - Maria Sanchez (American Falls, ID) - Idaho State :: In 4-2 win over Minot State she set up the opener and then scored two goals. She also tallied for the Bengals in 3-2 win over Wyoming.
