College Notebook 10.1.18: Weekend Rewind

Here's a recap of the weekend's action...

## Women's Scores & Notes ## 

Pac-12, Mountain West & West Coast Conferences

MW Friday - Colorado State 0-3 Boise State :: Raimee Sherle (Meridian, ID) scored on a ball over the top by Lillie French 35 minutes into the contest and doubled that five minutes later on a lengthy drive from midfield. French would add the third goal in the 52nd. On a day in which Sherle moved within two of the career Mountain West scoring record, it was Tara Fisher who was grabbing attention after the game thanks to 11 saves in the shutout performance.



PAC12 Sunday - Oregon State 0-2 Washington State :: Maegan O'Neill (Spokane, WA) scored the opening goal 20 minutes into the contest after a shot from Elyse Bennett deflected off a defender. Maddy Haro would add a free kick goal from the top of the box in the 65th following the send-off of an OSU defender that tackled Bennett on a breakaway. Rachel Thompson only needed to make one save for the Cougars, who dominated the day with a 34-5 advantage in shots as they moved to 10-0-0 - the only perfect record in the nation.




MW Sunday - Wyoming 1-2 Boise State :: Trailing since the ninth minute, it was again Raimee Sherle (Meridian, ID) guiding the Broncos to another win. She tallied the equalizer in the 40th via Allegra Weeks (Boise, ID) and converted a penalty in the 54th, moving into a tie - as a junior - for the career Mountain West goals tally with 41 (Amy Kofoed, Utah 1999-01).



WCC Sunday - Gonzaga 3-2 (OT) San Diego :: It was a thrilling conference opener for the Zags as they saw the hosts equalize twice before Jodi Ulkekul's second goal of the game gave them the win in overtime. She opened things up with the lone goal of the first half with a second chance off a free kick that rebounded off a defender in the 21st minute. Callie Best (Spokane, WA) fed McKenna Ferrara with a cross in the 76th for a late lead in the game only to see USD tie it up just four minutes later. Ulkekul would nab the winner in the 103rd minute



WCC Sunday - Santa Clara 3-2 San Francisco :: Kelcie Hedge (Post Falls, ID) put the Broncos on the board in the 17th minute off a rebound opportunity and put them in front again in the second half with a fantastic swerving free kick in the 56th minute. Eight minutes later Kelsey Turnbow (Spokane, WA) delivered a cross that was headed in for what proved to be the game-winner.

Big Sky Conference - Standings 

Friday - Eastern Washington 0-0 Montana :: In an even contest the two combined for 32 total shots (16 each), putting nine on target. Kelsee Winston (Pasco, WA) made five stops for the Eagles while Claire Howard made four saves for the hosts.    

Friday - Idaho 0-3 Northern Colorado :: Three different players scored for the Bears, who scored one in the first half and two more in the second as they outshot the Vandals 14-4 in the game.

Friday - Idaho State 0-3 Sacramento State :: Caitlin Prothe (Spokane, WA) scored the opening goal in the 53rd minute to get things rolling for the Hornets.

Sunday - Idaho State 1-3 Portland State :: After another scoreless first half the Bengals saw the Vikings go up three before Delaney Johnston (Boise, ID) converted a penalty with 30 seconds remaining. Rilee Castilla (Kennewick, WA) scored the second of the three PSU goals.

Sunday - Eastern Washington 1-3 Northern Colorado :: The Bears avenged their Big Sky championship game loss from last fall with vigor, tallying 18 minutes in and adding two more in the second half before the Eagles got on the board through Saige Lyons on a Devan Talley ball in the 87th.

Sunday - Idaho 1-1 Montana :: After a scoreless first half the Vandals quickly grabbed the lead in the second when long ball from Claire Johnson was put away by Myah Merino in the 47th minute. The Vandals looked headed for a win when Kennedy Yost (Pocatello, ID) converted from the spot with three minutes left to knot things up. The Griz were in position to earn the draw with eight saves from Claire Howard.





Great Northwest Athletic Conference - Standings 

Saturday - Northwest Nazarene 1-2 Seattle Pacific :: Claire Neder (Spokane, WA) scored off a rebound in the 25th minute for the hosts, who held the lead until Rikki Myers knocked a shot into the upper right corner of the goal from the top of the box in the 69th. SPU would nab the win in the 79th with Makena Rietz (Walla Walla, WA) setting up the winner.

Saturday - Central Washington 0-1 Simon Fraser :: In the tightly contested contest a strike four minutes into the second half was enough for the hosts to get the win. Emily Thomson had made just two saves in the first half and other than the goal Mary Kate Henning was tested only one other time int he second.

Saturday - Concordia 3-0 Saint Martin's :: Kasey Ames (Liberty Lake, WA) helped set up the lone goal of the first half as the Cavaliers posted the shutout win.

Northwest Conference - Standings 

Friday - Puget Sound 2-1 (OT) Pacific :: Lura Morton (Moscow, ID) scored the game-winner in the 109th minute for the Loggers.

Saturday - Whitman 0-5 Linfield :: The hosts dominated the contest with a 16-1 shots advantage in the first half that netted three goals. They added two more in the second half with Amidee Colleknon (Bend, OR) capping things off.

Saturday - Whitworth 0-2 Willamette :: The Bearcats grabbed the lead 12 minutes into the contest and added some insurance in the 67th.

Sunday - Whitworth 2-1 Linfield :: Coby Yoshimura scored twice in the opening 19 minutes to guide the Pirates to the win. She tallied the first with a shot that deflected in off the keeper 89 seconds into the match after receiving the ball from Arielle Van Peursem. She put away a rebounded save of a Brixiada Mendoza shot for the second.

Sunday - Whitman 0-2 Willamette :: The Bearcats scored late in each half with Julia Fecteau (Bend, OR) helping set up the second.

Cascade Collegiate Conference - Standings 

Saturday - Multnomah 0-3 Carroll :: Payton Netz (Great Falls, MT) scored early in the fifth minute but a 17-1 advantage in shots for the half left them empty otherwise. They posted another 23 in the second half with Katie Martin and Makayla Welch (Boise, ID) getting on the board. Sydney Green made two saves for the clean sheet.

Saturday - Warner Pacific 0-5 Providence :: Sarah Howell (Polson, MT) delivered a long ball that Kate Sisler chipped over the keeper four minutes into the match. Eme McLaughlin (Great Falls, MT) then went on a rampage, scoring the next four goals before the clock hit 34. Dakota Neumann and Jenna Evertz (Polson, MT) split the shutout.  

Saturday - Evergreen State 0-6 Northwest University :: Whitney Weaver (Spokane, WA) scored the opener just four minutes in via Rylee Rassier (Spokane, WA) as the Eagles grabbed three in the first half. Katie Michkiosky (Wenatchee, WA) scored twice back-to-back in the 74th and 75th before Rassier rounded the scoring out in the 86th.

Sunday - Warner Pacific 0-5 Carroll :: Payton Netz (Great Falls, MT) scored in the opening five minutes again, tallying in the third with Kirsten Girolami following a shot off the post for a rebound goal in the sixth. Charly Clements put away the rebound of a saves penalty five minutes into the second half and Ashley Carlson (Helena, MT) put the match away with goals int he 58th and 63rd. Devan Murfitt (Bozeman, MT) did not need to make any saves for the shutout.

Sunday - Rocky Mountain 0-1 Eastern Oregon :: Natalie Mitchell tucked a shot into the bottom left corner in the 26th minute to give the Mountaineers the victory. Their defense allowed just one shot on target that Cydni Cottrell (Pasco, WA) needed to contend with.

Sunday - Multnomah 0-6 Providence :: Eme McLaughlin (Great Falls, MT) scored the opener in the 38th and set up the second by Kate Sisler two minutes later. After a Sarah Howell (Polson, MT) goal in the 50th she scored two more in the 54th and 58th with Howell delivering a long ball for the second. Malena Lennon wrapped up the scoring on a 62nd minute corner from Sydney Knieriem, who tallied two assists in the game. Dakota Neumann and Jenna Evertz (Polson, MT) split the shutout.

Sunday - Northwest Christian 0-3 Oregon Tech :: Karah McCulley (Bend, OR) set up the second goal for the Owls.

Around the Nation

Friday - TCU 0-1 Baylor :: Camryn Wendlandt (Coeur d'Alene, ID) scored the deciding goal for the Bears in the 59th minute.



Friday - McNeese 1-1 Stephen F Austin :: Havana Johnson (Coeur d'Alene, ID) scored the equalizer for the Cowgirls in the 67th minute.

Friday - Minot State 1-0 (OT) Concordia St Paul :: Haley Berryman (Ephrata, WA / Walla Walla CC) scored the game-winner in the 96th minute for the Beavers.

Friday - California Baptist 0-4 Seattle University :: Paige Malm (Spokane, WA) set up the opening goal 10 minutes into the match and her deflected shot in the 54th led to their second.

Sunday - McNeese 3-1 Sam Houston State :: Havana Johnson (Coeur d'Alene, ID) scored the opening goal three minutes in and went on to set up the final goal.




## Men's Scores & Notes ## 

Great Northwest Athletic Conference - Standings 

Saturday - Northwest Nazarene 4-2 MSU Billings :: The Nighthawks jumped to a three goal lead in the game with three different scorers. Skyler Munroe (Boise, ID) hit Dominic Abdel-Ahad in the 21st and a cross from Logan Wood in the right corner found Jake Levine (Spokane, WA) four minutes later. Alex Mitrovic gathered a clearance and ripped it on goal for the third in the 36th. Guillaume Kremer converted a penalty in the 44th and after a deadlocked second half pulled the Yellowjackets within one with another PK in the 82nd. Wood and Levine combined to set up Rafael Junqueira, though, four minutes later to reassure themselves the win.



Northwest Conference - Standings 

Saturday - Whitman 5-1 Linfield :: Peter Stephens scored from the top of the penalty arc in the fifth minute and would go into the break up a goal with Joe Wally tallying the go-ahead goal in the 38th via Erik Nielsen. Three different players would score in the second half with Jaden Bachtold and Sam Johnson scoring before Stephens netted his second to cap the game.

Saturday - Whitworth 0-2 Willamette :: Despite having a man advantage since the 19th minute the Pirates saw the hosts tally short-handed in the 47th and 57th. Willamette went down to nine men in the 62nd but Whitworth was unable to rally.

Saturday - George Fox 1-7 Pacific Lutheran :: Joe Sammartino (Boise, ID) tallied a goal and assist as they Lutes went up by four en route to the blowout.

Sunday - Whitworth 0-2 Linfield :: The hosts tallied in the 42nd and 67th and held on for the win despite being outshot by the Pirates 20-9.

Sunday - Whitman 0-1 Willamette :: The Bearcats scored 15 minutes in and held off the Blues for the win.

Sunday - Pacific 1-2 Pacific Lutheran :: Trailing since the break the Lutes tied it up in the 80th and got the winner in the 89th when Jackson Moore (Spokane, WA) connected with Joe Sammartino (Boise, ID).

Sunday - George Fox 0-2 Puget Sound :: Luke Murdock (Boise, ID) scored the opening goal with three seconds remaining in the first half, heading in a free kick.

Cascade Collegiate Conference - Standings 

Friday - Rocky Mountain 11-0 Walla Walla University :: Mason Luse (Billings, MT) scored the first two and Nolan Sherwood the next three. Pablo Ferreira netted three of the next four with Lachlan Gilchrist in between. Adrian Lopez and Bilechi Sumali (Boise, ID) rounded out the scoring. Jonah Gronmayer had three assists and neither Ryan Cornwall (Billings, MT) or Kristofer Wennin needed to make a save.

Saturday - Multnomah 0-8 Carroll :: The Saints took their turn racking up the stats against the Lions. Terry Cox (Spokane, WA) and Jose Porres tallied a goal and assist on their three first half goals with Jonathan Taylor (Missoula, MT) netting the other. Cox would finish with a hat-trick, scoring the opening two of the second half. Kyle Thompson (Bigfork, MT), Nico Kyriacos and Sam Malouf (Meridian, ID) tallied the final three with Paulo Georgiades recording three assists in the contest. Kaden Connor did not need to make a save for the shutout.

Saturday - Warner Pacific 1-4 Providence :: Adrian Gomez scored eight minutes in off a long ball and George Holloway made it two in the 15th. He added a second via Gudmundur Gudmundsson in the 51st. The Knights quickly answered in the 53rd, but Gudmundsson scored one of his own to restore the three goal margin in the 59th via Alex Williams, who register his second assist of the game.

Saturday - Evergreen State 2-0 Northwest University :: Emilio Meraz-Rodriguez (Pasco, WA) set up both goals late in the contest as the Geoducks scored in the 78th and 90th.

Sunday - College of Idaho 5-1 Walla Walla University :: Emmett Sample (Corvallis, MT) found Eric Baer for the opening goal 18 minutes in. Andy Sanchez tallied the equalizer in the 36th on a free kick to even things up before the break. After the intermission it was all Yotes as they outshot the hosts 19-2 for the half. Ahmet Huremovic (Meridian, ID), Lucas Thorne (Kuna, ID), Bekir Cinac (Boise, ID) and Jhonier Caicedo scored as they pulled away for the win.

Sunday - Rocky Mountain 2-0 Eastern Oregon :: Nolan Sherwood connected with Pablo Ferreira for the opening goal 12 minutes in and in the second half Marco Kummerle added some insurance via Sam Davidson. Kristofer Wennin made three saves in the shutout.    

Sunday - Warner Pacific 2-0 Carroll :: A penalty put the Knights on the board five minutes into the second half and they added some insurance with four minutes remaining.

Sunday - Multnomah 0-2 Providence :: An own goal in the 47th broke the stalemate with George Holloway putting Adrian Gomez on a one-on-one with the keeper for the second in the 73rd. Marc Girones made seven saves for the shutout.

Friday - Fort Lewis 1-4 Dixie State :: Steen Shober (Missoula, MT) set up the lone goal for the Skyhawks.

Sunday - Fort Lewis 0-1 Westminster :: Alec Marshall (Bozeman, MT) scored the lone goal of the contest in the 65th.
