COLLEGE SCOREBOARD - Sept 15: Vandals rally in stunner, CCC kicks off league play

In what will probably go down as the most thrilling contest of the year in the region, the Idaho Vandals scored four unanswered late at home to erase a three-goal deficit for a win against Memphis.

Meanwhile, the NAIA Cascade Collegiate Conference kicked off league play Friday and saw a similar comeback performance from the Rocky Mountain College women in an overtime victory against Southern Oregon.

Results and notes for matches played by schools around the INWsn region and INWsn area players elsewhere.

DI - Memphis 4-5 Idaho... In what was arguably the most dramatic match of the year in the region, the Vandals rallied from a three-goal deficit, scoring four goals in the final 24 minutes to snatch the win away from a Memphis side that was on the cusp of breaking into the Top 25 (#23 in TopDrawerSoccer). Eighteen minutes in the Vandals evened things up with a goal from Myah Merino, but the visitors reclaimed the lead in the 32nd. The Tigers pushed that lead to three with two more in the first nine minutes of the second half. A corner from Morgan Crosby (Spokane, WA) in the 67th started the rally when Kelly Dopke buried it. In the 76th Bridget Daley scored off a rebound from an Olivia Baggerly free kick. Baggerly's threat from set pieces proved deadly two minutes later as her free kick effort from 33 yards beat the keeper. Daley would score again with just under four minutes left, giving the Vandals their first lead of the game, and ultimately the win.

DI - Montana 0-1 Oregon... An early goal four minutes in was the different as the Ducks held on for the win. Outshot 15-9, Claire Howard made six saves to keep the Griz in the contest, but they were unable to find the equalizer.

DI - Nevada 0-4 Eastern Washington... Alexis Stephenson (Pasco, WA) had a career day with two goals and an assist in the contest. She tallied the opener in the 30th with Jenny Chavez doubling the lead from the spot three minutes later. In the second half Stephenson found Delaney Romero in the 54th to push the lead to three and then scored her second just four minute later to cap the game. Freshman Kelsee Winston (Pasco, WA) made one save for the shutout.
DI - Boise State 1-0 Weber State... Raimee Sherle (Meridian, ID) scored the deciding goal for the Broncos in the 25th minute off a ball from Sarah Taylor. In her return from injury Janelle Flores made seven saves for her 16th career shutout, moving within one of the program record (Liz Ruiz, 2008-11).

DI - Fairleigh Dickinson 1-5 Gonzaga... The Bulldogs continue to excel at home. India Jencks scored at the half-hour mark and Maddie Kincaid made the lead two in the final minute of the half. Jencks added a second in the 55th before the visitors got on the board a minute later. Sophie Viviano put the match out of reach, finding Maggie Conners in the 78th and scoring herself two minutes later on a ball from Madeline Gotta, who set up Jencks earlier as well.

NAIA - Cascade Conference (league unless noted)

Southern Oregon 3-4 OT Rocky Mountain... The Bears rallied twice in the win, scoring to pull even in the 18th minute when Alyssa Schneider tallied on a rebounded effort from Laurn Gamache. The visitors, though, went back in front by two before Gamache became the hero of the day with three unanswered goals. She struck from distance in the 69th and then beat a defender before scoring in the 83rd to tie things up and force overtime where she stole the ball from a defender and scored in the 106th.
Oregon Tech 0-3 College of Idaho... Jocelyn Cook-Cox (Spokane, WA / NIC) scored the opening goal 32 minutes in and Emily Aspden doubled the lead seven minutes later. Cameron Coyle (Boise, ID) capped the scoring in the 41st and Brittany Houghton made eight saves for the shutout.
