HS Daily - 9.20.17: Kamiakin routs Richland in top of table MCC clash

The two unbeatens atop the Mid-Columbia Conference squared off Tuesday, but it was a one-sided affair in which the visiting Braves rolled to a five-goal victory. Meanwhile, Chiawana gleefully welcomed back Summer Yates from international duty with a win that ended a three-game losing skid.

In other league play, the most dramatic contest of the night was Medical Lake's visit to Deer Park where the Cardinals came away with a late victory on a goal two minutes from time.

Round-up of the action for September 19

Mid-Columbia Conference

Kamiakin 6-1 Richland
In a showdown of the top two sides in the table, the Braves dominated on the road against a Richland side that posted three big wins last week. Izzy Conover and Maddie Morgan scored two each with Britney Donais and Aaliyah Valladares contributing.

9/19 Pasco 0-4 Chiawana
The Riverhawks won their league opener without Summer Yates - she was on international duty with the US U19 WNT - against a now still winless Southridge, but struggled mightily this past week, dropping three games by a 12-3 margin. Her return was much appreciated as she kicked the game off with a hat-trick. Not quite finished, she set up Hannah Haertling for the final goal in the 65th. Abby Whiston and Alisha Ramos combined for the shutout. Pasco, though, is also winless, making their Thursday evening contest at 3-0 Hanford - their sixth consecutive road game - an interesting contest to see where they rank.

Walla Walla 2-1 Southridge
Grace Griffiths put the Suns on the board six minutes into the match, but Abigail Escalante put the visiting Blue Devils on the board with two minutes left in the half to even things up. Makena Rietz scored the lone goal of the second half in the 52nd to give Walla Walla its second win in three outings.

9/19 Hanford 4-0 Kennewick
Amanda Fraga opened the scoring and then it was all Emily Sondag as the Falcons rolled to the victory as she posted a hat-trick. Gabby Turner recorded the shutout.

Great Northern League

Pullman 0-5 Clarkston
Cortney Bogar and Makinzie Packwood led the way for the Bantoms. Bogar scored in the ninth minute, and after defender Emerson Snyder doubled it in the 15th she scored a second to make it three. Packwood set up Lauren Johnson in the 34th and scored herself in the 70th. Katelyn Bittle and Hannah Covey combined for the shutout.

Northeast A League

Lakeside 6-1 Newport
Maddie Hall scored twice in the opening 24 minutes, including the opener, as Lakeside tallied four in the first half. Lexi Torok scored the second in the 21st and set up Hall three minutes later. Alyssa Figy, who fed Torok, netted in the 34th and 48th as she and Torok finished with two goals and an assist each. Emily Jurgens spoiled the shutout in the 55th before Torok capped the scoring.

Medical Lake 2-1 Deer Park
Makayla Geiger and Nicole Wetherell led the Cardinals to the win with Geiger scoring the first at the hour mark. After Jessie Thomas equalized in the 66th Wetherell found Geiger again with two minutes left for the game-winner.

Colville 3-0 Riverside
Keren Torres, Kirsten Stickney (penalty) and Ally Stickney scored for the Indians in a make-up game that replaced the Freeman at Colville contest that was originally scheduled, but postponed per the request of the Scotties. Molly Goodwin made a penalty kick save en route to recording the shutout.
