COLLEGE SCOREBOARD - September 10

Results and notes for matches played by schools around the INWsn region and INWsn area players elsewhere.

WOMEN

DI - Boise State 1-0 Portland... The Broncos bounced back from their loss to the Huskies Friday at the Portland Invitational with a victory over the hosts. The defense limited the Pilots to just two shots on goal and Tara Fisher stopped both, allowing Raimee Sherle (Meridian, ID) to score the deciding tally in the 71st on a ball from Aubree Chatterton (Boise, ID).
DI - Montana 2-1 Northern Iowa... The 6-0-0 hosts grabbed the lead nine minutes in and held it into the second half. Freshman Rita Lang struck to put Montana in the lead, tallying a goal and setting up the winner in a two minute span. Her first collegiate goal was a quick strike in the 56th from the corner of the six on a ball from freshman Alexa Coyle (Bozeman, MT). A throw-in from Lang created the second with another freshman, Raye Burton, hitting the top corner off a header from Coyle. They were the first two goals allowed this season by UNI.
DI - Cal State Northridge 2-0 Eastern Washington... The Eagles gave up the opener in the 14th and the second in the 84th.
DI - Gonzaga 2-1 Denver... A scoreless stalemate went nearly an hour before the two sides exchanged goals in 33 seconds just short of the hour mark. The hosts struck on a free kick at the 58 minute mark and then the Zags answered immediately in the 59th when a cross from Sophia Viviano was chested in by India Jencks. Freshman Maggie Conners beat a defender and sent a bending shot past the keeper in the 77th for the Bulldog win.
DI - Yale 0-7 Stanford... Averie Collins (Bozeman, MT) scored the sixth goal in the win.
DI - McNeese 4-0 Prairie View... Havana Johnson (Coeur d'Alene, ID) had an assist on the second goal.

DII - Colorado Christian 2-1 MSU-Billings... A long effort from about 25 yards by Amanda Grimshaw gave the Yellowjackets the lead in the 29th, but they allowed the equalizer 10 minutes later and the visitors grabbed the win in the second half.
DII - Stanislaus State 2-1 Central Washington... Playing in a home away from home, the Wildcats took the lead at Interbay Stadium in Seattle in the 33rd when Sophia Keenan first-timed a ball from Whitney Lowe. The visitors, though, answered in the 65th and grabbed a late winner in the 88th.
DII - Mary 3-1 Black Hills State... Five minutes after falling behind, the Marauders equalized on a 30th minute header by Caylin Cathey (Billings, MT). Megan Lowery (Hayden, ID / NIC) netted in the 63rd to ensure the win.

DIII/NAIA - College of Idaho 2-0 Linfield... Katelyn Benevidez was the difference in the match, striking for a goal and an assist in a two-minute span at the half-hour mark. A through ball from Mackenzie Malach (Boise, ID) led to her opening goal 30 minutes in and her corner two minutes later was flicked in by Bailey Watson (Boise, ID). Brittany Houghton made three saves for the shutout.
DIII/NAIA - Evergreen St 0-3 Puget Sound... Lura Morton (Moscow, ID) scored the third goal in the win.
DIII/NAIA - Pacific 1-2 Warner Pacific... Sadie Schmeling (Post Falls, ID / NIC) set up the Boxers goal in the 17th to pull within one, but that would be the end of the scoring for the game.

MEN

DI - Gonzaga 0-2 Seattle... The Bulldogs gave up goals in the 20th and 69th to the hosts.

DII - CSU-San Bernardino 6-1 MSU-Billings... Trailing by five, Alexis Chavez spoiled the Coyotes' shutout in the 74th minute.
DIII - Whitman 2-3 Drew...  A free kick from Noah Cavanaugh put the Missionaries on the board four minutes in, but the hosts answered in the 13th. Cavanaugh struck again in the 32nd via Joe Wally, but the lead lasted only 73 seconds this time as the hosts equalized and then added a winner in the second half.
DIII/NAIA - Carroll 2-1 OT Whitworth... See INWsn Gameday [+]

NAIA - College of Idaho 5-3 Sierra Nevada... The Yotes grabbed four goals in the opening 26 minutes for a commanding hold of the game. Carter Perry (Boise, ID) scored the first eight minutes in on a ball from Ahmet Huremovic (Meridian, ID), who doubled the lead in the 22nd. Bekir Cinac (Boise, ID) scored back-to-back goals in the 24th and 26th with Perry setting up the second. The hosts got on the board before the break and added a second just before the hour mark to cut into the deficit, but Perry tallied his second in the 62nd.
NAIA - Rocky Mountain 3-2 OT Mary... The Bears fell behind against the DII opponent, but Pablo Ferreira led RMC to the win with a hat-trick. He tied it up with a penalty in the final minute of the first half. Jonah Gronmayer and Sky Swenson combined to set up his second for the lead in the 62nd and Gronmayer found him again with a cross with just over two minutes left in overtime for the win.
