GAMEDAY: Eastern Oregon at Whitworth

In a rare Monday contest, the Eastern Oregon University Mountaineers came north to face Whitworth in a non-league affair. The third-year program was going up a perennial Northwest Conference contender and DIII tournament team. They kept the contest close, trailing by just a penalty at the break, but in the end were unable to contain the Pirates as they rolled to a 4-1 win.

Jonah Snyder led the way for Whitworth with two goals and an assist. He opened the scoring with a penalty in the 25th minute. Later in the contest, he added an insurance goal on a tight-angled shot that went in at the near post off the goalkeeper and set up the final goal.

Just over five minutes into the second half Josh Goodman made a fantastic individual play, intercepting the ball at midfield. He drove forward with the ball and unleashed a well-driven, swerving shot that smacked off the hands of Pirate goalkeeper Jesus Nunez and went in for the score.

The excitement of pulling even was short-lived, though, as Moi Diaz reclaimed the lead just 20 seconds later for Whitworth.

Snyder pushed the lead to two in the 67th and then delivered the ball to Sam McKay (Missoula, MT), who got a shot off at the top of the box as a defender came in on a tackle.
