HS Daily - 9.4.17: CV Bears blank Wenatchee on the road

In a match-up of the second place teams from the GSL and Big Nine a year ago, the Bears picked up the non-league win on the road with Kaelyn Barnes tallying a goal and assist. Meanwhile, Kamiakin upended the defending GSL champions.

Chiawana had no trouble with Lewiston, but it was the first of games of several over the next few weeks in which the Riverhawks will be without standout Summer Yates, who is with US U19 WNT in China from September 2-15 for CFA International Women's Youth Football Tournament.

Britney Donais put the hosts on the board in the opening minute of the contest, but Chelsea Le put things back square in the 18th when she converted a penalty for the Bullpups. Kamiakin reclaimed the lead in the 35th on a goal from Kaeri Ward, but Le found Grace Cooper in the 42nd to even things up once again. The two remained deadlocked the rest of the way, sending the match to golden goal overtime, where Maddie Morgan gave the hosts the win in the 87th via Donais.
