The Opening Day for the GSL 2A sides saw most of the action in Spokane Valley with East Valley and West Valley playing hosts on the day. West Valley would pull away from Pullman in what was a back-and-forth affair, but East Valley posted the big result on the day with a comeback win against spring champion Shadle Park. In the NEA meanwhile, it was surprisingly close contests for powers Freeman and Lakeside away from home as they picked up victories.

Clarkston 9-0 Rogers
The visiting Bantams rolled to the easy victory, playing mercy soccer in the second half as they worked on their posession play. Rogers keeper Lydia Hogan, however, limited their first half tally to just five with several nice saves and made a few more in the second half while Clarkston keeper Erika Pickett touched the ball just once in a defensive manner. With her senior sister Luella not in the lineup, freshman Rebecca Skinner took over the lead role on the day with four goals and three assists.

Shadle Park 1-2 East Valley
The Highlanders broke the stalemate early in the second half, but Janice Oliver led the Knights in a late comeback in the final minutes. She collected a ball served in from the right side and slotted it past the keeper for the first and then a corner created the game-winner after a deflection was sent back in with a chip that she chest trapped and finished with left foot.
