And that is why you can't judge everything based on preseason / non-league results. Wednesday's contests proved to be a bit of an eye-opener as you looked down the list with Gonzaga Prep needing a shootout to prevail at University, Ferris thumping North Central and Ridgeline faltering at Lewis & Clark.

Ridgeline 1-3 Lewis & Clark
A 30-yard free kick at the close of the first half finally broke the stalemate in favor of the Tigers, but the visiting Falcons evened up early in the second half. A low strike from Gwen Bafus put the hosts back in front and Rachael Lee, who set up the go-ahead goal, struck a perfect free kick from just outside the box to lock things up.

Cheney 1-3 Mt Spokane
Before they knew it Cheney found themselves trailing on the scoreboard as Bre Koscieleski found herself all alone with just the keeper to beat a little into the third minute of play. The Wildcats continued to control the match and unfinished chances haunted them, particularly in the 30th when a second chance on a corner to put the ball back in the mix was turned over and resulted in a fast break the other way that Alex Miller finished for the equalizer. Kylie Stiles would put the Cats back in front on a penalty just as early into the second half and then score with a nice turn and finish midway through the half.

Gonzaga Prep 2-2 (3-0 SO) University
In an absolute shocker given non-league results and Monday's openers, the Bullpups found themselves backed into a corner as the host Titans grabbed a two-goal lead thanks to a goal and assist from Shelby Hubble. A penalty climbed them back into the picture and Grace Kalua's equalizer set things even, but Gonzaga Prep still needed a Herculean effort from Mia Lewis in the shootout to earn the win as she made three stops in the tiebreaker.
