INW Collegiate Recap - GNAC: Stalemate for Northwest Nazarene, Seattle Pacific men

MSU-Billings remains in the top three on the women's side after a split on the weekend that included a 3-0 loss to second-place Seattle Pacific, who are led by Megan Lindsay (Spokane, WA). Meanwhile, Jamie Arthurs (Richland, WA) continues to dominate, keeping Western Washington in first. On the men's side, the trio of Simon Fraser, unbeaten Northwest Nazarene and Seattle Pacific are running away from the pack. NNU and SPU battled to a draw.


GREAT NORTHWEST ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – DII – WOMEN

Thursday
MSU-Billings 2 :: 0 Central Washington
Heidi Greenback scored twice in seven minutes in the first half to give the Yellowjackets the win. Chelsea Shuman (Kalispell, MT) stole the ball inside the box in the 21st, finding Greenback for the header. Another turnover in the box created by Kristen Kastelic set up the second in the 27th minute. – MORE 

Northwest Nazarene 1 :: 4 Seattle Pacific
The Falcons took the lead in the 26th minute on a close-range finish from Heather Young in the 26th minute with Megan Lindsay (Spokane, WA) drawing the keeper out with her drive into the box before connecting with Demi Waitley to double the lead in the 37th. Kaylie Winston (Pasco, WA) pushed the lead to three four minutes into the second half Ali Martin made it four on a 30-yard free kick off the upper left corner woodwork. The Crusaders would spoil the shutout in the 63rd when Sarah Staropoli found the back of the net. – MORE | MORE     

Saint Martin’s 0 :: 1 Western Washington
A stifling Viking defense allowed the visitors only five shots in the game, allowing Jamie Arthurs (Richland, WA) to post the shutout win with only one save, finally finding the winner in the 68th despite outshooting them 19-5.

Western Oregon 1 :: 0 Simon Fraser

Northwest Nazarene 0 :: 2 Central Washington
The Wildcats took the win with a goal in each half. Hadli Farrand delivered a through ball to Carson McKole for a breakaway goal in the 32nd. McKole added a second from close range off a cross in the 58th minute. – MORE 

MSU-Billings 0 :: 3 Seattle Pacific
In a showdown of two of the top three teams, the hosts broke the stalemate in the 52nd minute and doubled the lead seven minutes later. Lindsay (Spokane, WA) capped the scoring with a shot from a tough angle on the right side from 15 yards out in the 74th. – MORE | MORE     

Western Oregon 0 :: 2 Western Washington
The Vikings picked up the win despite being outshot 9-7 in the contest. With five saves Arthurs added her second shutout of the weekend to added to her school and conference record tally.

On the stat line it looked like quite a shootout as the two teams combined for 33 shots, but the game went scoreless for the first 77 minutes before Weston Patrick found John DiLulo (Boise, ID) with a short through ball for the opening strike 10 yards out. The hosts answered back with four minutes left to force overtime where Chris Voth got his foot on the ball amidst a scramble in front of goal in the 104th minute. – MORE

A pair of second-half goals in the 60th and 77th minutes from Blaine Carver gave the hosts the victory. – MORE

MSU-Billings 3 :: 1 Saint Martin’s
Thomas Sheets propelled the Yellowjackets to a two-goal lead in the first half, unleashing a shot in the 24th minute that led to a rebound goal from Thomas Chameraud. Three minutes later Sheets collected the ball off a failed clearance and put it away to double the lead. The hosts answered on the 70-minute mark to pull within one but Chameraud added his second of the game with four minutes left off a free kick from 30 yards out on the left side. – MORE  

Northwest Nazarene 0 :: 0 Seattle Pacific
Two of the top three teams in the conference, the pair battled to a stalemate despite the hosts having a 26-7 advantage in shots. Alfredo Ontiveros made four saves to keep the Crusaders in the game for the shutout. – MORE
